Decree of the Central Council of Trade Unions on the transfer of working time in connection with 9 May 1968

on the movement of working time in connection with 9 May 1968
In order to make more economical distribution of working time even so that workers can make better use of continuous working days to relax, the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, on a proposal from the Central Council of Trade Unions (§ 94 of the Labour Code No. 65 / 1965 Coll.), by order of 13 March 1968 No 81, stated that
1. Friday, 10. May 1968, is the day of work and the working time corresponding to it is transferred to Sunday, 12. May 1968;
2. this transfer of working hours does not concern continuously operated workplaces.
The government further imposed
1. the Councils of the Regional and Regional National Committees and the Council of the National Committee of the City of Prague to ensure the adaptation of bus and local transport of workers and pupils and the operation of nursery schools, school satellites and clubs according to the transfer of working time provided for by this resolution;
2. the Minister for Transport to ensure the adaptation of rail transport;
3. the Director of the Central Communications Administration to ensure the service of connections;
4. Ministers of Internal Trade and Agriculture and Nutrition, Councils of Regional and District National Committees and the Board of the National Committee of the City of Prague and recommends that the President of the Union of Consumer Cooperatives take the necessary measures to ensure that food products and certain services for workers are delivered and sold, in particular to ensure the delivery and sale of meat, milk, butter, bread and pastries, taking into account the working hours of this resolution;
5. to all ministers, heads of central bodies and councils of regional and regional national committees (the Council of the National Committee of the City of Prague) whose subordinate organisations apply transport requirements, take the necessary measures to ensure that the loading and unloading of railway wagons on 10 May 1968 does not fall below 90% of the monthly average of daily loading and unloading;
6th Minister of Mining to ensure the continuous supply of 24-hour enterprises supplied directly by individual mines through transport facilities on 10 May 1968.
At the same time, the Government authorised all ministers, the heads of central bodies, the Councils of the Regional National Committees and the Council of the National Committee of the City of Prague to authorise, after consultation with the central committee of the relevant trade union or, where appropriate, the relevant regional trade union council, an exemption from the arrangements for the transfer of working time under this resolution, if necessary or appropriate for operational reasons or in terms of production tasks.
