Government Regulation
of 31 August 1954
on the award of honours and honorary degrees to doctors and other health workers.
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic orders, with the agreement of the President of the Republic pursuant to § § 1 and 7 of Act No. 247 / 1949 Coll., on honours and honorary recognition:
For the evaluation of doctors and other health workers who have been extremely deserving of developing care for the health of the people,
1. the medal "Medal of Jan Evangelist Purkyně" is founded,
2. introduce honorary titles
(a) "Promised physician,"
(b) "Promised health worker,"
(c) "Sample in health care."
(1) The award of the Medal of Jan Evangelist Purkyně is awarded to doctors and other health workers who, in particular, have earned the results of scientific work, scientific work or the introduction of new therapeutic and preventive methods or organisational measures in a particularly excellent way for the development of human health protection.
(2) The medal "Jan Evangelist Purkyně" is awarded by the President of the Republic on a proposal from the Government.
(3) The details shall be laid down in the attached Statutes which form part of this Regulation.
(1) The honorary title "Deserved Doctor" is awarded to doctors who have worked in health care for at least 10 years and have been extremely good at conscientious work. Other health professionals shall be awarded the honorary title "Researcher 'under the same conditions.
(2) These honorary degrees are awarded by the Government, on a proposal from the Minister for Health, and if they are medical or healthcare professionals in the field of competence of another central office or body, on a proposal from its head in agreement with the Minister for Health.
(1) The honorary title of "Sample in Health" is awarded to workers who have become a model for following by exemplary performance of their duties.
(2) This honorary title is awarded by the Minister for Health and, if it concerns health professionals in the field of competence of another central office or body, by his head in agreement with the Minister for Health.
(1) Workers who have been awarded an honorary degree will also be given a certificate of honorary degree (diploma).
(2) Honorary degrees are associated with the right to wear an honorary badge.
(3) The Diploma and Honorary Badge will be handed over to the Honorary Minister for Health, and if it is a worker from another central office or authority, the head of that authority (authority).
This Regulation shall enter into force on the day of its publication; they shall be carried out by the Prime Minister and the Minister for Health in agreement with the participating members of the Government.

Statue of Medal of Jan Evangelist Purkyně.
(1) The "Jan Evangelist Purkyně Medal" is awarded to doctors and other health workers who have done an excellent job of developing the health of the people.
(2) The medal "Jan Evangelist Purkyně" is awarded by the President of the Republic on a proposal from the Government.
(3) At the same time as the honours, he will receive a decorated diploma and a badge as a document for wearing the honours.
(4) The medal "Jan Evangelist Purkyně" is a circle with a diameter of 27 mm. On the face is a portrait of John Evangelist Purkka left looking, on the back of Aesculap's stick with a snail, book, laurel branch in the middle of the medal. In the upper and lower third, there is the inscription "For Merit on People's Health." The medal is embossed with silver, patinated.
(5) The medal "Jan Evangelist Purkyně" is worn on the left side of the breast.
(6) The medal "Jan Evangelist Purkyně" ranks from right to left after the award "For Excellent Work" as well as the medal "Jan Amos Komenský Medal." In the run-up, the rental time decides the order. If only the ribbon is worn, it ranks in the same order.
(7) The "Jan Evangelist Purkyně" medal is administered by the Prime Minister.
