of 6 September 2006
on the issue of gold coins "National cultural monument of Klementinum - observatory" for CZK 2,500
The Czech National Bank provides pursuant to § 22 (a) of Act No. 6 / 1993 Coll., on the Czech National Bank, as amended by Act No. 442 / 2000 Coll.:
§ 1
(1) On 11 October 2006, gold coins "National cultural monument Clementinum - Observatory" of CZK 2,500 ("coins") are issued as part of the cycle "Cultural monuments of the technical heritage." The coin is shown in the annex to this decree.
(2) Coins are issued in the ordinary version and in a special version intended for collector's purposes with a polished field of coins and matt relief (hereinafter referred to as the special version).
(3) Coins in normal and special design are made of gold of purity 999.9. The weight of the coin is 7.78 g, its diameter is 22 mm and its strength is 1.65 mm. The coin edge in the normal version is serrated, the coin edge in the special version is smooth. When the coin is embossed in both normal and special versions, the tolerance is 0,1 mm in diameter and 0,15 mm in thickness. In mass, the tolerance up to 0,062 g is allowed and in gold purity the tolerance up to 0,01%.
§ 2
(1) On the front of the coin there are baroque stylized clouds from which the rain flows fall in a sloping direction to the left. On the left edge of the rain stream is the denomination of the coin "2500" stylized to the shape of a measuring cylinder, right from the streams of rain is the abbreviation of the money unit "CZK." Above the baroque clouds are stylized heraldic animals from a great state emblem. There is a non-closed copy on the outer ring containing the name of the State "CZECH REPUBLIC" in two rows and the name of the cycle "CULTURAL PAMISHES OF TECHNICAL GRANTS." The coin tag that struck the coin is placed on the right edge of the coin above the baroque stylized clouds.
(2) On the back of the coin is the astronomical tower of the observatory in Klementine, Prague. From the top of the tower comes the sun rays and at its left and right bottom edge is the year of the "2006" stamping, divided by the astronomical tower. From the top of the tower comes the artistic stylization of the astronomical measuring apparatus, which diagonally divides the coin area into night and day. In the upper left edge of the coin there is a stylized transcription of the part depicting the motion of the comet from the book Tadeas Hájek from Hájk "Descriptio cometee." There is a copy of "TRAVATOR PRAGUE KLEMENTIN" on the ring. The author of the graphic design of the coin is Josef Oplištil, whose initials, connected letters "OJ" are located in the upper right edge of the coin.
§ 3
This Decree shall take effect on 1 October 2006.
