amending and supplementing the Act of the Slovak National Council No. 74 / 1963 Coll., on the Slovak Academy of Sciences
The Slovak National Council decided on this law:
The Slovak National Council Act No. 74 / 1963 Coll., on the Slovak Academy of Sciences, as amended by the Slovak National Council Act No. 146 / 1969 Coll., is amended as follows:
1.
(1) On fundamental scientific issues, the Academy is the main advisor to the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic and its institutions.
(2) The Academy is responsible for its activities to the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic; report on this activity annually. ';

The members of the Academy shall be appointed by the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic on the basis of an election made by the General Assembly of Members of the Academy. '
3. Paragraph 10 (2) reads as follows:
"(2) The academics and members of the correspondents shall have a monthly remuneration of the amount determined by the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic."
Article 4 (11) reads:
A member of the Academy shall cease membership by decision of the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic on the basis of his own discretion or on the basis of a proposal from the General Assembly of Members of the Academy, if he has been misled by science, state, cause of peace and socialism, or if he has been sentenced to the loss of honorary degrees and honours, or if he has consistently and without due cause failed to perform the tasks arising from his membership of the Academy (§ 10 (1)). '
5. Article 12 (2) (d) and (e) reads as follows:
"(d) on a proposal from the Bureau of the Academy, elect members of the Academy (Section 9); on a proposal from the Bureau, it shall also decide on the submission of an application for membership of the Academy (Section 11);
(e) on a proposal from the Bureau of the Academy, elect the members of the Bureau of the Academy (last sentence of Paragraph 13 (3)); the results of the election are presented by the Bureau of the Academy as a proposal to the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic. '

(1) The head of the Academy is the President of the Academy, who is appointed and recalled by academics on a proposal from the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic by the Bureau of the Slovak National Council. The President of the Academy shall be responsible for the performance of his duties as Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic.
(2) The Central Managing Authority of the Academy is the Bureau of the Academy. The Bureau shall be responsible for the activities of the Academy to the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic.
(3) The members of the Bureau of the Academy are the Chair of the Academy, the Vice-Presidents of the Academy, the Secretary-General of the Academy and its Deputy Directors and other members. The Vice-President of the Academy shall appoint and dismiss the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic on a proposal from the President of the Academy. On a proposal from the President of the Academy, the General Secretary of the Academy shall be appointed and dismissed by the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic. Other members of the Bureau from among the members of the Academy are appointed and dismissed by the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic; appoint them, as a general rule, on the basis of an election by the General Assembly of Members of the Academy.
(4) The number of Vice-Presidents of the Academy and Deputy Secretaries-General of the Academy as well as the number of other members of the Bureau of the Academy is determined by the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic.
(5) The term of office of the Bureau of the Academy lasts until the new Law on the Slovak Academy of Sciences has been amended. "
7.
(1) The Administrative, Economic and Organisational Agenda of the Academy is provided by an executive agency set up by the Bureau of the Academy. The powerful apparatus consists of:
(a) Secretariat of the Academy Bureau,
b) Central administration of the Academy workplaces.
(2) The Secretariat of the Academy Bureau is subordinate to the President of the Academy. The General Secretary of the Academy shall direct the central administration of the Institute. "
8. Paragraph 19 shall be added to paragraph 4:
"(4) The employment conditions are negotiated with scientists for a maximum period of 4 years, usually on the basis of bankruptcy. The employment conditions of former scientists shall be adjusted within the meaning of this provision by the conclusion of new employment contracts by the Academy. If there is no agreement within the time limit set by the Academy Bureau to conclude a new contract of employment, the Academy shall, for this reason, extend the employment relationship by giving notice unless the employment relationship ends in a different manner than the legal notice period. '
9.
More detailed arrangements for the organisation, internal structure of the Academy and the legal status of its bodies and departments include the Statutes of the Academy, which are decided by the General Assembly of Members of the Academy and approved by the Government of the Slovak Socialist Republic. '
The Act of the Slovak National Council No. 146 / 1969 Coll., amending the Act of the Slovak National Council No. 74 / 1963 Coll., on the Slovak Academy of Sciences, is hereby repealed.
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication.
