on the validity of the Decree of the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic of 20 December 1940, No 4 / 1941, OJ No L 39, 9.2.1939, on the establishment of the Czechoslovak War Cross.
According to Article 2 of the Constitutional Decree of the President of the Republic of 23 June 1945, No 22 Coll., on the publication of laws, issued outside the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic, I declare:
According to the Resolution of the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic of 15 January 1946, the Decree of the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic of 20 December 1940, No 4 / 1941, OJ L 4 / 1941, establishing the Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 and the Statutes annexed to this Regulation, remain in force.
Decree-Law No 4 / 1941 of the Council of the European Communities and the Statutes are hereby published in the Annex.

With the approval of the President of the Czechoslovak Republic, the Government hereby orders the following in accordance with Section 1 of the Law of 21 October 1936, No 268 Coll. and No:
In memory of the fight for the liberation of the Czechoslovak Republic from the hostile cast, the Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 is established as a visible medal to Czechoslovak citizens in their homeland, units and members of the Czechoslovak army abroad, as well as to the units and members of the Allied armies who took part in the battle, which was more lifelike in 1939, and proved an excellent and successful act of executive or command in which they were personally exposed to the danger of life or life.
Further provisions shall include the attached statutes.
This Regulation shall enter into force on 25 October 1940. Its implementation is imposed on the Minister of National Defence.

Czechoslovak War Cross, 1939.
The Czechoslovak Cross of War of 1939 is established by a decision of the Czechoslovak Government as a visible medal to those Czechoslovak citizens in their homeland, units and members of the Czechoslovak army abroad, as well as to the units and members of the Allied armies who took part in the fight, a lifesaver in 1939, and demonstrated an excellent and successful act of executive or command in which they were personally exposed to the danger of life or life.
The Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 has one degree. It is awarded in nature only once at first honours. Any further honours of the Czechoslovak War Cross shall be marked with a bronze smear on the ribbon by its wearer.
Description of Czechoslovak War Cross from 1939:
a) Cross of War: Cross on the same shoulders ended by spikes, midway between the shoulders of crossed swords. On the cheek are a small state emblem, on the reverse are the Earth characters in circles, in the middle in the shield sign Czech, in the tips of the shoulders of the cross the sign Slovakia, left Moravia, right Silesia and down Podkarpatské Rusi. In the middle of the gap between the ring of the boiling sign Bohemia and the edge of the shield is the year 1939.
b) The ribbon is the same pattern as the Czechoslovak War Cross in 1918; narrow red strips are replaced by blue strips.

The Czechoslovak cross of war from 1939 is worn on the ribbon on the left side of the chest behind the order of the White Lion, behind the Czechoslovak cross from 1914- 1918 and behind the order of M. R. Štefánik, before all Czechoslovak honours and before the honours of the Allied and Second States.
The Czechoslovak Cross of War of 1939 can be decorated by Czechoslovak citizens in their homeland and members of the Czechoslovak army abroad who, in the fight against the enemy after 15 March 1939, fulfilled the general conditions set out in Article 1.
The Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 can be decorated with regiments or troops and hundredths for outstanding and successful performance of the task.
The Ministry of National Defence shall adapt the designation of the decorated units by a separate regulation.
The Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 can also be awarded to members and units of Allied armies.
The Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 is granted for life and free of charge. The decorated one will receive a diploma which entitles him to wear the Czechoslovak War Cross from 1939.
In the event of death, the Czechoslovak cross of war from 1939 is left in memory of family or relatives. But no one can bear the cross of war but the decorated one.
The Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 loses who has been convicted by court for such a criminal offence, which in turn loses both domestic and foreign orders of military and civil honours and honorary badges.
The condemned person is obliged to return the war cross to the Ministry of National Defence.
The Czechoslovak War Cross of 1939 is given by the President of the Republic, after the case of the Minister of National Defence or the Commander of the Army, if the President of the Republic empowers them to do so.
The proposal to award the Czechoslovak War Cross from 1939 is made by the government.
The government of the Czechoslovak Republic will decide retrospectively whether the award of the Czechoslovak War Cross from 1939 will be accompanied by special advantages.
