establishing an International Classification of Functional Capabilities, Disability and Health (MKF)
The Czech Statistical Office, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health pursuant to § 19 (2) of Act No. 89 / 1995 Coll., on the State Statistical Service, introduces, with effect from 1 October 2020, the International Classification of Functional Capabilities, Disability and Health (hereinafter referred to as MKF classification).
The ICF classification is a Czech version of the ICF classification (in the English original International Classification of Functional, Disability and Health), it is part of the World Health Organisation classification file and is intended to measure disability at individual and population level.
It allows for a standardised objective assessment of functional competences and their limits in health for the purposes of reporting health care, prescribing and reimbursement of medical devices, assessing the degree of disability (disability), assessing health status as a basis for assessment in terms of benefits and social security and employment services (assessment of medical fitness to work if a natural person is disabled), assessing the long-term adverse health status in social security and employment matters, assessing special needs in education and statistical purposes in terms of health assessment.
The MKF classification replaces the MKF classification introduced by the Communication of the Czech Statistical Office No. 431 / 2009 Coll., of 18 November 2009, on the introduction of the International Classification of Functional Capabilities, Disability and Health (MKF), as amended by the Communication of the Czech Statistical Office No. 97 / 2013 Coll., of 12 April 2013, on the termination of the compulsory application of the International Classification of Functional Capabilities, Disability and Health (MKF), which is repealed with effect from 1 October 2020.
