Decree of the Minister of Finance
of 25 March 1948
on the embossing and issuing of silver hundreds in memory of the sixth anniversary of the foundation of Charles University.
According to Articles 2, 4 and 3 of the Decree of 19 October 1945 of the President of the Republic on the renewal of the Czechoslovak currency, I shall provide:
(1) In memory of the sixteenth anniversary of the foundation of Charles University in Prague, 1000 000 pieces of the commemorative silver hundred crowns are settled.
(2) The memory hundred crowns are derived from a mixture of 500 pieces of silver, 400 parts of copper, 50 parts of nickel and 50 parts of zinc. The gross weight of the commemorative hundred-crown is 14 g. During stamping, the deviation up and down is permitted in gross weight 10 / 1000 and in silver purity 5 / 1000. The diameter of the coin is 31 mm.
(3) There is a state emblem of the Czechoslovak Republic on the face of the Stokorona in the enclosed field, around it the inscription "REPUBLIC OF CZECHOSLOVSKÁ" in one row with two small ornaments, among which is the year of stamping "1948."
(4) On the back of the stokoruna is the figure of Prince Václav, who has a standard in his right hand and who is leaning on the sword by the left. In front of him in the left part of the inner circular surface kneels Karel IV., lifting with both hands a bull about the foundation of university. Behind the figure of Charles IV there are two small shields with a Czech lion and a holy eagle. The title of the year of foundation of university "1348" is above the figure of Charles IV. Around the inner circle is the inscription "SEST SET LET UNIVERSITY KARLOVA" in one row, ended with two stylized snaps. Among them, at the lower edge of the centre, the coin's denomination shall be "100 '. The name of the original" O. Španiel "is at the feet of Prince Václav.
(5) The edge of the coin is smooth and embossed with six-pointed stars and simple waves; On both sides of the coin is a flat frame.
The National Bank of Czechoslovakia will begin to issue silver stokones at the main institute in Prague, at the Regional Institute for Slovakia in Bratislava and at all its filials on 7 April 1948.
The commemorative silver hundred crowns issued pursuant to Paragraph 1 shall be accepted by state and other public coffers and monetary institutions without limitation. Other persons are not obliged to receive more than 10 coins.
This decree shall take effect on the day of its publication.
