The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that on 23 November 1998 the Joint Committee of the European Community and the European Free Trade Association (EC- EFTA) "Common transit procedure" was adopted in Brussels.
Resolution No 1 / 98 concerning the extension of the prohibition on the use of the global guarantee issued by Resolutions No 1 / 96 and No 2 / 96 of the Joint Committee of the European Community and of the European Free Trade Association ("the common transit procedure ') of 5 July 1996, published under No 211 / 1996 Coll.,
and last extended and amended by Resolution No 5 / 97 of the Joint Committee of the European Community and of the European Free Trade Association (EC-EFTA) "Common Transit Scheme 'of 17 December 1997, published under No 8 / 1998 Coll. *)
Resolution No 1 / 98 shall enter into force on 1 January 1999 on the basis of Article 2 thereof and shall also enter into force on that date for the Czech Republic.
The Czech translation of Resolution No 1 / 98 is being announced simultaneously.

to extend the prohibition of the application of the global guarantee issued by Resolutions 1 / 96 and 2 / 96
Joint Committee
Joint Committee -
based on the Convention of 20 May 1987 on a common transit procedure, 1) in particular Article 34b of Annex II; 2)
considering that:
By Resolutions 1 / 963) and 2 / 96.4), the Joint Committee, as last extended and amended by Resolutions 1 / 975) and 5 / 97,6), adopted measures temporarily prohibiting the use of a global guarantee for the transport of cigarettes falling within subheading 2402.20 of the Harmonised System and other sensitive goods listed due to the exceptional risk of fraud associated with it,
the protection of financial interests in the application of these procedures requires the extension of those measures under the Community transit procedure and the common transit procedure in order to ensure that they are as effective as possible;
consider an extension of the prohibition to a period of 12 months necessary -
He decided:
The measures issued by Decisions No 1 / 96 and No 2 / 96 of the EEA Joint Committee "Common transit procedure 'shall be extended for a period of 12 months.
This resolution shall enter into force on 1 January 1999.
