THE LAW
Slovak National Council
of 5 April 1963
on the Commission for Folk Control and Statistics at the Slovak National Council
Building an advanced socialist society associated with performing challenging tasks requires, in line with the expansion of socialist democracy, to consolidate the central governance of society and the state and to strengthen its effectiveness by further deepening the direct participation of workers in developing effective control and use of national economic records.
The Slovak National Council therefore decided on the following Act:
§ 1
(1) Within the framework of a single, centrally managed system of popular control bodies, the Slovak National Council elects and withdraws from office the members of the Commission of popular control and statistics at the Slovak National Council ("the Commission").
(2) The Commission follows the guidelines of the Central Commission of People's Control and Statistics and resolutions of the Slovak National Council and its Bureau; it shall also report to those authorities on its activities.
§ 2
(1) The Commission has 20 members elected on a proposal from the Central Committee of the Slovak National Front for a period of four years.
(2) The members of the Commission are in the hands of the chairman of the Slovak National Council by law.
(3) If, during the term of office, the number of members of the Commission falls and there is a threat to its proper functioning, a supplementary election shall be held for the remainder of the term of office.
§ 3
Members of the Commission may be removed from office if they have violated their duties or have lost their trust for other reasons.
§ 4
The election and withdrawal of the members of the Commission shall be made public by printing or other appropriate means.
§ 5
The President of the Commission and his Deputy Director shall be elected and removed from office by the Slovak National Council.
§ 6
The President of the Commission shall attend meetings of the Slovak National Council and its Bureau.
§ 7
The members of the Commission and the managers of its apparatus shall attend the meetings of the Slovak National Council, as decided by the Commission.
§ 8
The activities and principles of the work of the Commission shall be governed by the Statute issued by the Central Commission for People's Control and Statistics.
§ 9
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication.
