THE LAW
of 11 November 1993
on the competence of the State Nuclear Safety Authority
Parliament has decided on this law of the Czech Republic:
(1) The State Office for Nuclear Security ("the Office") is the central body of the Czech State Administration for State Nuclear Safety Supervision and for the Protection against Ionising Radiation.
(2) Prague is the seat of the Office.
(3) Head of the Office is the President, appointed and withdrawn by the Government of the Czech Republic.
The Office shall exercise these powers:
(a) the exercise of state control over nuclear safety, (2) the treatment of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel;
(b) the exercise of State control over nuclear materials, including their registration and control;
(c) the exercise of state control over the security of nuclear installations and nuclear materials;
(d) the exercise of State control over selected materials, equipment and technology used in the nuclear field, as well as dual-use materials and devices, 3)
(e) the exercise of state supervision in the field of protection against ionising radiation;
(f) coordination of the activities of the radiation monitoring network on the territory of the Czech Republic and the provision of international data exchange on the radiation situation.
The Office shall be the carrier of professional cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency.
This Law shall take effect on 1 December 1993.
