THE LAW
of 12 October 1993
amending and supplementing the Act of the Czech National Council No. 40 / 1993 Coll.
Parliament has decided on this law of the Czech Republic:
The Act of the Czech National Council No. 40 / 1993 Coll., on the acquisition and renunciation of citizenship of the Czech Republic, is amended as follows:
1. in Article 2, the following point (b) is added:
"(b) adoption (§ 3a),"
Points (b) to (e) shall be renumbered (c) to (f).
2. The following Section 3a is inserted after Section 3:
Generation
A child, at least one of whom is a national citizen of the Czech Republic, shall acquire citizenship of the Czech Republic on the day of the legal power of the adoption judgment. "
3. in Paragraph 11 (1) (d), the word "uninterruptible" and "clutch" or "shall be replaced by" or. "
4. In Article 11 (1), point (e) is replaced by the following:
"(f) at least one of his parents is a citizen of the Czech Republic."
5. Paragraph 14 (1) (a) reads as follows:
"(a) has acquired citizenship of a foreign State, or"
6. The following Section 18a is inserted after Section 18:
A Slovak national born on its territory until 31 December 1939 and whose parents, or at least one of them, were born on the territory of the Czech Republic, or a Slovak national who reached or reaches the age of 60 at the latest in 1993, may choose the citizenship of the Czech Republic by a declaration made before 31 December 1993 at the county office according to his permanent residence if he has not already acquired such citizenship,
(a) if they are permanently resident in the Czech Republic for at least two years; and
(b) he has not been legally convicted in the last five years for an intentional offence. ';
7. In Article 23, the following paragraph 3 is inserted after paragraph 2:
"(3) The court which has decided to adopt the child, if the adoption of the child has acquired the citizenship of the Czech Republic pursuant to Article 3a, shall notify that fact within 10 working days of the date on which the decision on the adoption of the district office responsible for the place of residence of the child becomes final. If the child does not have permanent residence in the Czech Republic, then the district office in Prague 1."
Paragraph 3 shall become paragraph 4.
8. the following Sections 27a and 27b are inserted after Section 27:
"Transitional provisions
Applications for citizenship of the Czech Republic, lodged until 31 December 1992, shall be treated in accordance with the rules in force on the date of their submission.
The Government may, by regulation, extend the time limits laid down in Sections 18 (1) and (2), 18a and 19 (1) of this Act until 30 June 1994 at the latest. '
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication.
