The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay on the visa waiver for holders of national passports was signed in Prague on 30 June 1999.
The Agreement entered into force on 9 November 1999 on the basis of Article 12 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.
AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay on the visa waiver for holders of national passports
the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay (hereinafter referred to as the "Contracting Parties'),
wish to facilitate the travel of nationals of both States to the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party; and
in accordance with the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay on the visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and service passports of the Czech Republic and holders of diplomatic and official passports of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay signed in Prague on 14 September 1993,
agree as follows:
Nationals of the Czech Republic and of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay holding a valid national passport may enter and stay without a visa in the territory of the other Contracting Party for a stay not serving gainful activities for a period not exceeding 90 days.
Nationals of the Czech Republic and of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay who enter the territory of a State of the other Contracting Party for the purpose of gainful employment or intend to stay for more than 90 days must obtain visas on a diplomatic mission or consular post of that State in advance.
1. Nationals of one Contracting Party who have lost their valid national passports in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party shall travel from that territory to the replacement travel documents issued by a diplomatic mission or consular post of their State, bearing a visa from the competent authority of the State of residence.
2. The replacement travel documents referred to in paragraph 1 of this Article shall be in the case of the Czech Republic "Travel Card 'and in the case of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay" Documento valido para un solo viaje - Para el regreso directo a la República Oriental del Uruguay'.
Nationals of the Czech Republic and of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay holding valid national passports may cross the border of the State of the other Contracting Party at border crossing points for international travel.
Subject to previous provisions, nationals of the Czech Republic and of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay enjoying the benefits of this Agreement shall, during their stay in the territory of the State of the other Contracting Party, comply with the legislation of the State of residence.
The Contracting Parties shall immediately inform each other, by diplomatic means, of the amendments made to national legislation governing the conditions for entry, residence and departure from their territory.
The Contracting Parties reserve the right to refuse entry to persons deemed undesirable, including persons whose national travel document has expired, as well as persons who could be a threat to the security of the State or to public policy or who do not have sufficient funds or otherwise demonstrate the security of their residence in the territory of the beneficiary State.
Each of the Contracting Parties undertakes to readmit its nationals to its territory without formalities.
The Contracting Parties reserve the right to temporarily suspend the application of this Agreement on grounds of security, protection of public order or health, except in the cases referred to in Article 8. Each Contracting Party shall immediately notify, in writing, by diplomatic means, the implementation of the measures and the repeal of them. Such measures shall take effect on the date of notification to the other Contracting Party.
1. The Contracting Parties shall, no later than 30 days before the entry into force of this Agreement, send each other the models of their valid travel documents referred to in Articles 1 and 3.
2. If one of the Contracting Parties introduces any change in its valid travel documents or introduces a new travel document, it shall notify the other Contracting Party by diplomatic means no later than 30 days before their entry into force and shall include their models together with all necessary information on the applicability of such documents.
This Agreement shall be negotiated for an indefinite period. It may be terminated by each of the Parties by means of a written communication sent by diplomatic channels. The Agreement shall expire 30 days after the notification of termination in writing to the other Contracting Party.
This Agreement shall be subject to approval in accordance with the national law of the Contracting Parties and shall enter into force on the 60th day following the date of service of the later note notified by the Contracting Parties to its approval.
Dane in Prague on 30 June 1999 in two original copies, each in the Czech and Spanish languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
