on citizenship of persons of Hungarian nationality. *)
The National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic decided on the following Act:
(1) Persons of Hungarian nationality, who were Czechoslovak nationals on 1 November 1938, residing in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic and not belonging to a foreign State, shall acquire without further Czechoslovak citizenship the date on which the Act takes effect if, within 90 days of that date, they take up a pledge of loyalty to the Czechoslovak Republic (§ 2, paragraph 2).
(2) Together with the husband or, where appropriate, the father or mother, the Czechoslovak citizenship is acquired by an undivorced wife and minor children, unless they are already employed under paragraph 1, if they reside in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic.
(3) The provisions of paragraphs 1 and 2 do not apply to persons who have been guilty of serious crimes against the Czechoslovak Republic or its popular democratic establishment. The Ministry of the Interior shall draw up a list of these persons within 30 days of the publication of this Act and shall supply it to the relevant national district committees. Furthermore, the provisions of paragraphs 1 and 2 shall not apply to persons designated for exchange under the Agreement between Czechoslovakia and Hungary on the Exchange of Population of 27 September 1946, No 145 Coll.
(1) The opinion on the acquisition of Czechoslovak citizenship under this law is the responsibility of the Regional National Committee.
(2) General regulations apply to the performance of the pledge of allegiance to the Czechoslovak Republic.
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication; to be carried out by the Minister for the Interior.
