adjusting certain social benefits.
The National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic decided on the following Act:
The Act of 23 March 1949, No. 90 Coll., on family allowances, is amended as follows:
1. Paragraph 4 (1) reads as follows:
"(1) The family allowance shall be:

| na 8 dětí | 2.920 Kčs, |
| na 9 dětí | 3.460 Kčs, |
| na 10 dětí | 4.000 Kčs |
and increases by 540 ccs a month for each additional unprovided child. '
2. Paragraph 12 (1) reads as follows:
"(1) The cost of providing family allowances shall be borne by employers on their contribution, which shall be 5% of the assessment basis for insurance premiums for employees who are compulsorily insured in the event of sickness and maternity, provided for in Section 20 of the National Insurance Act. The allowance shall not be paid for the staff referred to in Section 21 of the Family Allowance Act. ';
Paragraph 1 (1) (c) of the Act of 13 December 1945, No 159 Coll., concerning the special allowance for state and certain other public servants, as well as to the beneficiaries of state resting (provision) salaries, as amended by the Act of 2 April 1947, No 69 Coll., is amended and read as follows:
"(c) per child to whom the education is due annually

the eighth and each additional child shall be entitled to an annual allowance of CZK 6.480. '
The Law of 18 July 1946, No. 164 Coll., on the care of military and war victims and victims of war and fascist persecution, is added as follows:
1. Paragraph 21 is added to paragraph 3 of the following text:
"(3) The supplement referred to in paragraph 1 shall be increased by 40 CZK per month to disabled persons who are not entitled to family allowances under the Act of 23 March 1949, No 90 Coll., on family allowances, as amended by the regulations amending it and supplementing it or to educational allowances under the regulations referred to in § 5, paragraph 1 of the same Act. '
2. The following Article 57a is inserted after Article 57:
(1) The childless beneficiary of a pension under this Act, which is solely linked to that pension, is entitled to an allowance of 12 Cds per month; if she is living in the same household with her wife or at least 6 months with her mate, this allowance is increased to 24 CZK per month.
(2) This allowance is not included in the income provided for in Articles 43, 1 and 49 (5).
(3) A widow's pension is always considered childless for the purposes of this law. "
Increases in the allowances provided for in Articles I and II and the special allowance provided for in Article IV shall be granted only if the child resides in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic; an increase in the allowances and allowances provided for in Article III shall be granted only if the invalidity and the child or pensioner live in the territory of the Czechoslovak Republic.
The competent Ministry may, on a case-by-case basis, take measures to eliminate irregularities that may have occurred in the implementation of this law.
This Law shall take effect on 1 October 1949; it shall be carried out by all members of the Government.
