on the updating of the Nomenclature of Territorial Statistical Units (CZ- NUTS)
The Czech Statistical Office, pursuant to § 19 (2) of Act No. 89 / 1995 Coll., on the National Statistical Service, as amended, announces the introduction of an updated Classification of Territorial Statistical Units (hereinafter referred to as the "nomenclature of the CZ- NUTS ') with effect from 1 May 2004.
The updated classification of CZK-NUTS is issued for statistical purposes and follows the classification of NUTS of the European Union. Its structure, codes and names of territorial units are in accordance with Regulation (EC) No 1059 / 2003 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 May 2003 on the establishment of a common classification of territorial units for statistics (NUTS). Includes alphanumeric codes and alphabetical names of statistical territorial units created in the Czech Republic for statistical surveys.
The full systematic part of the updated nomenclature of CZK-NUTS is set out in the Annex to this Communication. For the purposes of the European Union, the updated classification is only mandatory up to NUTS level 3 (region).
The classification of CZK-NUTS will be available in electronic form in the Czech Statistical Office's Information Services Department, on 50th 81, Prague 10 and on the CSU website at www.czso.cz.
