Zaporocký v. r.
Annex to the Decree of 13 August 1948, No 227 Coll., which gives provisional effect to the Additional Agreement to the Trade Agreement between the Republic of Czechoslovakia and the Netherlands of 20 January 1923, signed at The Hague on 24 June 1948.
Additional agreement

Additional agreement
to the Trade Agreement between the Republic of Czechoslovakia and the Netherlands of 20 January 1923.
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Government of the Kingdom of the Netherlands signed the Protocol on the provisional application of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, which became an authentic Final Act adopted at the end of the second meeting of the Preparatory Committee of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Employment and signed in Geneva on 30 October 1947, agreed on the following measures:
From the date of entry into force (even provisional) The General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade by both Parties to the contractual rate provided for in the Additional Agreement of 9 April 1934 to the Trade Convention between the Republic of Czechoslovakia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, signed at The Hague on 20 January 1923, will no longer apply.
The two Governments agreed that the import duty on "Edam 'and" Gouda' cheeses of Dutch origin, as set out in the Additional Agreement of 1 December 1931, will be set at a rate of 500 KCS per 100 kg, taking into account the general revision of the Czechoslovak tariff.
Should one of the two Contracting Parties cease to apply the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, the two Governments shall enter into negotiations within six months. The customs discounts provided for in the General Agreement and negotiated in Geneva between Czechoslovakia and the Benelux countries (the Belgian-Luxembourg and Netherlands Economic Union) shall remain in force between the two parties until the entry into force of a new agreement which they would conclude, based on direct and indirect discounts enjoyed by them within the meaning of the General Agreement. However, the discounts provided for by the General Agreement and agreed in Geneva between Czechoslovakia and the Benelux countries could be withdrawn if, within two months of the start of negotiations, these negotiations did not lead to the conclusion of a new agreement.
Since, on 1 January 1948, the Common Customs Tariff was adopted by the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, it is agreed that the Belgian and Luxembourg Governments will take part in the negotiations referred to in Article II.
This Additional Agreement will be ratified and the replacement of the instruments of ratification will take place in Prague at the shortest possible time.
It will have the same period of validity as the Trade Convention of 20 January 1923.
It shall enter into force 14 days after the replacement of the instruments of ratification.
However, it shall apply retroactively from 20 April 1948.
Which, on the conscience of the competent officials who were duly empowered to do so, signed this Additional Convention.
