THE LAW
of 10 July 1993
amending and supplementing Act No. 172 / 1990 Coll., on Higher Education
Parliament has decided on this law of the Czech Republic:
Act No. 172 / 1990 Coll., on Higher Education, is amended as follows:
1. in Article 10 (1) (c), the sentence after the semicolon shall read:
"a proposal for the appointment and removal of the Rector shall be submitted by the Academic Chamber of the College to the President of the Republic, '.
2. In the title under Section 13, the words "and heads of teaching and scientific institutes" shall be added after the word "prodean."
3. In Paragraph 13 (1), the words "Education, Youth and Sports of the Czech Republic (" the Minister ") are added at the end.
4. the following paragraph 8 shall be added to Article 13:
"(8) The Head of the pedagogical or scientific centre shall direct and be accountable to the Dean; where a teaching or scientific centre is set up directly at a university or carries out tasks for several universities, it shall correspond to the rector of the university in which it is organised. ';
6. Article 15 (2) reads as follows:
"(2) The Minister, acting on a proposal from universities, shall submit proposals for the appointment of professors to the President of the Republic."
7. After Paragraph 15, the following Section 15a is inserted:
Appointment of professors and rectors of universities
The President of the Republic shall appoint professors on the basis of a proposal submitted by the Minister, and on the basis of the proposals submitted by the academic chambers of universities, appoint and dismiss the rectors of universities. '
Teachers and university scientists who, at the date of entry into force of this Act, have an indefinite employment relationship shall be converted into fixed-term employment until 30 September 1994.
This Act shall take effect on 20 September 1993.
