THE LAW
of 2 April 2004
establishing the University of Defence
Parliament has decided on this law of the Czech Republic:
(1) A military college is hereby established (1) called University of Defence. The seat of this military university is Brno. The University of Defence is formed by the merger of the Military College of the Ground Forces in Vyškov, the Military Academy in Brno and the Military Medical Academy of Jan Evangelist Purkyně in Hradec Králové, which on the date of establishment of the University of Defence cease to exist.
(2) The University of Defence is transferred to the University of Defence all rights and obligations of the Military College of the Ground Forces in Vyškov, the Military Academy in Brno and the Military Medical Academy of Jan Evangelist Purkyně in Hradec Kralove.
(1) Students who, on the date preceding the date of entry into force of this Act, studied in accredited study programmes carried out by the Vyškov Military School of Ground Forces, the Military Academy in Brno and the Jan Evangelist Purkka Military Medical Academy in Hradec Králové become students of the University of Defence on the date of entry into force of this Act. Persons who, on the date preceding the date of entry into force of this Act, had suspended their studies at the University of the Land Army in Vyškov, the Military Academy in Brno or the Military Medical Academy of Jan Evangelist Purkyně in Hradec Králové shall have suspended studies at the University of Defence on identical terms.
(2) Accredited study programmes which were carried out on the date preceding the date of entry into force of this Act by the High Military School of Ground Forces in Vyškov, the Military Academy in Brno and the Military Medical Academy of Jan Evangelist Purkka in Hradec Králové become accredited study programmes of the University of Defence; This is without prejudice to the validity of their accreditation provided for in existing legislation.
(3) Accreditation of the habilitation procedure and the appointment of a professor, awarded by the Vyškov Military College, the Military Academy in Brno and the Jan Evangelist Purkka Military Medical Academy in Hradec Králové, in force on the date of entry into force of this Act, become the accreditation granted to the University of Defence; This is without prejudice to the period of validity of those accreditation certificates established under existing legislation, but shall expire on 31 August 2007 at the latest.
(4) The beginning of the habilitation and appointment procedure, which took place on the date preceding the date of entry into force of this Act at the Vyškov Military School of Ground Forces, the Military Academy in Brno and the Jan Evangelist Purkyně Military Medical Academy in Hradec Králové, are transferred to the University of Defence.
Efficacy
This Act shall take effect on 1 September 2004.
