Decree of the Minister for Foreign Affairs
of 2 May 1956
on the Rules on Preventing Collisions at Sea.
The International Conference on the Safety of Life at Sea, held in London from 23 April 1948 to 10 June 1948, approved the Rules on Preventing Collisions at Sea and attached them as Annex B to its Final Act signed in London on 10 June 1948.
On 1 January 1954, on the basis of a resolution of the conference, the British Government set the date from which the participating governments of the said Regulations would apply.
On the basis of the Government Resolution of 19 October 1955, the Czechoslovak Republic adopted these Rules and communicated this on 9 November 1955 to the British Foreign Office.
In addition to Czechoslovakia, the following countries are bound by the following rules to date: Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Burma, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Philippines, Finland, France, Haiti, Chile, India, Iraq, Ireland, Iceland, Italy, Israel, Japan, South Africa Union, Jugoslavia, Canada, Colombia, Liberia, Hungary, Mexico, German Federal Republic, Nicaragua, the Netherlands, Norway, New Zealand, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Greece, United States of America, the Federation of Soviet Socialist Republics, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, Uruguay, Great Britain and Venezuela.
The rules on preventing collisions at sea and their Czech translation can be consulted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Transport.
