implementing Act No. 168 / 1999 Coll., on insurance of liability for damage caused by the operation of a vehicle and amending certain related laws (Act on insurance of liability from the operation of a vehicle)
According to § 3 (1), § 6 (3), § 13 (1) and § 14 (3) of Act No. 168 / 1999 Coll., on insurance of liability for damage caused by the operation of the vehicle and on the amendment of certain related laws (Act on Insurance of Liability from the operation of the vehicle):
Scope of liability insurance information communicated by the insurer to the Czech Insurers' Office
The insurer shall communicate to the Czech Insurance Office the following information on the creation, time of interruption, change and termination of liability insurance:
(a) the green card number, the date of its issue, the period of validity;
(b) the name, the name and, where applicable, the name and the name of the owner of the vehicle, the name or business name or the name of the vehicle operator, or the name of the vehicle owner, or the name and address of the owner of the vehicle and, where applicable, the name, surname and address of the policy holder or of the business name and registered office of the policy holder; in the case of a vehicle which is not subject to registration of road vehicles under the law governing the conditions of use of vehicles on the road, only the name and, where applicable, the name, surname and address of the owner of the vehicle or the name and address of the owner of the vehicle and the name and address of the owner of the vehicle and, where applicable, the name, surname and address of the policy holder or the name and address of the policy holder,
(c) the business firm and the head office of the insurer;
(d) the duration of the insurance and the period of interruption of the insurance, if agreed;
(e) the type of vehicle, its factory brand and its type;
(f) the vehicle identification number; If not allocated, the body or chassis number of the vehicle,
(g) vehicle registration or military registration,
(h) the number of the vehicle's technical licence;
(i) the number of the insurance contract.
Amount of the daily contribution rate
(1) The daily rate of contribution for each type of domestic vehicle under Section 4 (5) of the Vehicle Liability Insurance Act is fixed for:
a) a motorcycle with an engine cylinder capacity of up to 50 cm3 including 4 CZK,
b) a motorcycle with an engine cylinder capacity of more than 50 cm3 up to and including 350 cm3 of CZK 8,
c) a motorcycle with an engine cylinder capacity of more than 350 cm3 up to and including 500 cm3 of CZK 21,
d) motorcycle with engine cylinder capacity above 500 cm3 in the amount of CZK 25,
e) a passenger car with an engine cylinder capacity up to and including 1000 cm3 of CZK 30,
f) a passenger car with an engine cylinder capacity of more than 1000 cm3 up to and including CZK 35,
g) a passenger car with an engine cylinder capacity exceeding 1,350 cm3 up to and including 1,850 cm3,
h) a passenger car with an engine cylinder capacity exceeding 1,850 cm3 up to and including 2,500 cm3 in the amount of CZK 65,
(i) a passenger car with an engine cylinder capacity above 2,500 cm3 in the amount of CZK 93,
j) residential car in the amount of 61 CZK,
k) ambulance car in the amount of CZK 94,
l) bus with the maximum authorised weight of up to 5 000 kg including 155 CZK,
m) bus with the maximum authorised weight exceeding 5 000 kg in the amount of 290 CZK,
n) trolleybus in the amount of CZK 56,
(o) a truck other than those referred to in (r) with a maximum authorised weight of up to 3,500 kg, inclusive of CZK 86,
(p) a truck other than that referred to in (r) with a maximum authorised weight of more than 3,500 kg up to and including 12000 kg, of CZK 145,
q) a truck other than that referred to in (r) with a maximum authorised weight of over 12000 kg of CZK 261,
(r) a truck which is or is to be registered in the register of road vehicles as a trailer tractor or trailer tractor, in the amount of CZK 563,
s) tractor in the amount of 16 CZK,
(t) a trailer with a maximum authorised mass of up to 750 kg, inclusive of CZK 4,
(u) trailer with a maximum authorised mass of more than 750 kg up to and including 10 000 kg of CZK 7,
(v) trailer with a maximum authorised mass exceeding 10 000 kg in the amount of 70 CZK;
(w) vehicles other than those referred to in (a) to (v) in the amount of CZK 20.
(2) For electric or hybrid vehicles, the daily contribution rate shall be as follows:
(a) paragraph 1 (a) for a motorcycle;
(b) paragraph 1 (e) for a passenger car with a power up to and including 40 kW;
(c) paragraph 1 (f) for a passenger car with a power up to and including 40 kW up to and including 55 kW;
(d) paragraph 1 (g) for a passenger car with a power up to and including 55 kW up to and including 80 kW;
(e) paragraph 1 (h) for a passenger car with a power up to and including 80 kW up to and including 135 kW;
(f) paragraph 1 (i) for a passenger car with a power exceeding 135 kW.
Amount of extra-judicial application of the right of contribution
The amount of the costs of the Czech Insurers' Office associated with the out-of-court application of the right of contribution under Section 4 (4) of the Vehicle Liability Insurance Act is CZK 300.
Forms of confirmation of the duration of the liability insurance and the malfunctioning of the insurance
(1) Confirmation of the duration of the liability insurance and the malfunctioning of the insurance issued during the life of the liability insurance shall include:
(a) the name and, where applicable, the name, surname, birth number or date of birth and residence of a natural person or a commercial firm or the name and registered office of a legal person as a policy holder; if the owner or the vehicle operator is not the same person as the policyholder, the certificate and the particulars of such persons shall be provided, according to the vehicle technical licence;
(b) the business firm and the head office of the insurer;
(c) the registration number or military registration number of the vehicle, the vehicle identification number or, if not allocated, the chassis or bodywork number of the vehicle referred to in the insurance policy;
(d) the number of the insurance contract, the duration of the liability insurance valid on the date of receipt of the application pursuant to Article 13 (1) (b) of the Vehicle Liability Insurance Act, and the total duration of the liability insurance, including the duration of the liability insurance, evidenced on the occurrence of the applicable liability insurance;
(e) information on claims incurred during the period of insurance of liability under the insurance contract referred to in (d), in particular their number, indicating the date of occurrence of the event;
(f) information on claims arising from previous liability insurance, as provided for in earlier certificates on the duration of the insurance, broken down by duration of individual liability insurance, indicating the company of the relevant insurer, in particular their number, and the date of the occurrence of the event;
(g) the date and reason for the termination of the previous liability insurance;
(h) signature, date of issue of the certificate and stamp of the insurer.
(2) Confirmation of the duration of the liability insurance and the malfunctioning of the insurance after the loss of liability insurance
(a) the name and, where applicable, the name, surname, birth number or date of birth and residence of a natural person or a commercial firm or the name and registered office of a legal person as a policy holder; if the owner or the vehicle operator is not the same person as the policyholder, the certificate and the particulars of such persons shall be provided, according to the vehicle technical licence;
(b) the business firm and the head office of the insurer;
(c) the registration number or military registration number of the vehicle, the vehicle identification number or, if not allocated, the chassis or bodywork number of the vehicle referred to in the insurance policy;
(d) the number of the insurance contract, the duration of the latter and the total duration of the liability insurance, including the duration of the liability insurance, as evidenced by the latter;
(e) information on claims arising during the life of the insurance policy under the insurance contract referred to in (d), in particular their number, indicating the date of the occurrence of the event;
(f) the information referred to in point (e) relating to claims arising from previous liability insurance events reported in previous certificates of the duration of the insurance broken down by period of individual liability insurance, specifying the name of the relevant insurer;
(g) the date and reason for the termination of the last liability insurance in force;
(h) signature, date of issue of the certificate and stamp of the insurer.
List of foreign States
Outside the territory of the Czech Republic, other Member States of the European Union and other States forming the European Economic Area, liability insurance applies to damage caused by the operation of domestic vehicles on the territory of Albania, Andorra, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Monaco, San Marino, Serbia, Montenegro, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, Vatican and United Kingdom.

On 1 January 2000:
1. Decree No. 492 / 1991 Coll., determining the scope and conditions of statutory liability insurance for damage caused by the operation of a motor vehicle.
2. Decree No. 582 / 1992 Coll., amending and supplementing Decree No. 492 / 1991 Coll., determining the scope and conditions of statutory liability insurance for damage caused by the operation of a motor vehicle.
3. Decree No. 327 / 1993 Coll., amending and supplementing Decree No. 492 / 1991 Coll., laying down the scope and conditions of statutory liability insurance for damage caused by the operation of a motor vehicle, as amended by Decree No. 582 / 1992 Coll.
