The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria on the visa waiver was signed in Prague on 28 April 1994.
The Agreement entered into force on 29 September 1994 pursuant to Article 11 (1) thereof. The Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of Bulgaria on the abolition of the visa requirement and the development of tourism of 4 June 1965, published under No 126 / 1965 Coll.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.
AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria
on the visa waiver
The Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria, led by the desire to facilitate the mutual travel of citizens of both states and thus to help develop relations between the two states, have agreed as follows:
Citizens of one Contracting State holding valid travel documents listed in the Annex to this Agreement may enter the territory of the other Contracting State for a stay which does not serve gainful activities and stay there for no more than 30 days without visas.
Citizens of one Contracting State who enter the territory of another Contracting State for the purpose of gainful activity or intend to stay there for more than 30 days must have a visa of that State.
1. Citizens of both Contracting States who hold diplomatic or service passports and who are in the territory of the second Contracting State as members of a diplomatic mission or consular post may stay in the territory of the second Contracting State for the duration of their secondment without visas.
2. Citizens of both Contracting States, family members living in the common household with the persons referred to in paragraph 1, may stay without a visa in the territory of the other Contracting State for the duration of their secondment, provided they themselves hold diplomatic or service passports.
Citizens of one Contracting State may enter the territory of the other Contracting State at international crossing points.
Citizens of one Contracting State shall be obliged to comply with their laws when staying in the territory of the other Contracting State.
The Contracting States shall immediately inform each other, through diplomatic channels, of any changes made to national legislation governing the conditions for entry, stay and travel.
1. Each of the Contracting States shall retain the right to refuse entry or stay on its territory to undesirable persons.
2. The Contracting States undertake to recruit their national citizens on their territory without barriers.
Each of the Contracting States shall retain the right to refuse entry or stay to citizens of the other Contracting State who could jeopardise the security of the State or public order or who do not have sufficient means to secure their residence.
1. Each of the two Contracting States may temporarily suspend the application of this Agreement in whole or in part for reasons of security, protection of public policy, health or other serious reasons, except in the case referred to in Article 7 (2).
2. Each Contracting State shall immediately notify by diplomatic means the introduction of the measures and the repeal of them. These measures shall take effect by the notification.
1. The Contracting States shall exchange, by diplomatic means, the specimen travel documents listed in the Annex to this Agreement.
2. In the event of a change in the applicable or introduction of new types of travel documents, Contracting States shall exchange their models together with all information on the applicability of such documents by diplomatic means, not later than 30 days before their introduction.
1. This Agreement shall be subject to approval in accordance with the national law of both Contracting States and shall enter into force on the 30th day following the date of service of the later note informing the Contracting States of its approval.
2. On the date of entry into force of this Agreement, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the People's Republic of Bulgaria on the abolition of the visa requirement and the development of tourism, signed at Sofia on 4 June 1965, will cease to apply.
This Agreement shall be concluded for an indefinite period. Each of the Contracting States may denounce it. The Agreement shall expire 30 days after the date of receipt of the written notification of the denunciation by diplomatic means to the other Contracting State.
Dane in Prague on 28 April 1994 in two original copies, each in the Czech and Bulgarian languages, the two texts being equally authentic.

Annex
to the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of the Republic of Bulgaria on the visa waiver
The following shall be valid travel documents within the meaning of this Agreement:
1. For citizens of the Czech Republic:
(a) a diplomatic passport;
(b) a service passport;
(c) passport;
(d) a sailor's book;
(e) passport.
2. For citizens of the Republic of Bulgaria:
(a) a diplomatic passport;
(b) a service passport;
(c) ordinary foreign passport;
(d) seafaring passport;
(e) travel document.
