of 23 June 1948
on the provisional application of the Additional Agreement to the Trade Convention between the Republic of Czechoslovakia and France of 2 July 1928, signed at Prague on 18 May 1948.
Under Article 1 of the Act of 4 July 1923, No 158 Coll., on the provisional treatment of trade relations with foreign countries, and under Article VII of the Act of 22 June 1926, No 109 Coll., which partially amends the Customs Tariff Act for Czechoslovak customs territories and customs tariffs and issues provisions on trade relations with foreign countries, I declare:
According to the Resolution of the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic of 1 June 1948 and with the agreement of the President of the Republic, an Additional Agreement to the Trade Convention between the Republic of Czechoslovakia and France of 2 July 1928 signed in Prague on 18 May 1948 is hereby entered into force with effect from 20 April 1948.

Additional agreement to the Czechoslovak-French Trade Convention of 2 July 1928.
Expecting the entry into force of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, negotiated in Geneva on 30 October 1947, both Parties have hereby agreed:
The contractual duties referred to in lists A and C of the Trade Agreement of 2 July 1928 and the provisions of the Final Protocol of this Agreement (to Article I and to Article II), as well as the contractual duties with all the tariff provisions laid down in the Additional Agreements to this Agreement, in:

they cease to be used:
1. As regards the Czechoslovak tariff rates on the list And since 20 April 1948, i.e. the date on which the Czechoslovak Government introduced the General Agreement in its provisional application,
2. With regard to the rates of the French Customs Tariff set out in Schedule C, as from 1 January 1948 on the date on which the French Government put the General Agreement into effect provisionally.
Should either Party cease to implement the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade, the two Governments shall enter into negotiations within six months. The customs concessions contained in the General Agreement shall remain in force between the two Parties until the entry into force of the new Agreement, which shall be negotiated by reference to the direct and indirect concessions enjoyed by the Parties as a result of the General Agreement. However, concessions contained in the General Agreement may be withdrawn if, within three months of the opening of the negotiations, no new agreement has been reached.
The High Contracting Parties acknowledge that they have both put this Additional Agreement into effect, each with provisional effect on 1 January 1948 and 20 April 1948 respectively.
This Additional Agreement will be definitively put into effect 14 days after the replacement of the instruments of ratification which will take place in Prague and will apply for the duration of the trade agreement of 2 July 1928.
