THE LAW
of 31 January 1964
on the Czechoslovak Radio
The National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic decided on this law:
§ 1
The Czechoslovak Radio, based on the policy of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, carries out mass political and educational work, ensures universal awareness of domestic and foreign listeners about events at home and abroad, supports the creative initiative of the people and contributes to the completion of the cultural revolution.
§ 2
Czechoslovak Radio performs its tasks by creating and disseminating radio programmes. It is based on the results of the activities of all economic, social, cultural and scientific organisations and closely cooperates with the state authorities. State authorities and socialist organisations are helping him effectively in the performance of his tasks.
§ 3
For the performance of its tasks, the Czechoslovak Radio in particular
(a) establish and manage radio studios and their technical facilities;
(b) carry out public events, cultural, artistic, sporting, physical and other performances and exchange radio programmes and audio recordings with other States' radio organisations;
(c) make sound recordings;
(d) organise public performances, performances and production for the purposes of programme production;
(e) has a network of its own permanent and special rapporteurs both at home and abroad;
(f) establish and operate artisanal bodies and sets;
(g) participate in the activities of international organisations and conclude agreements and cooperate with radio organisations of other States.
§ 4
Organizers of cultural, artistic, sports, physical and other public performances or performances and gatherings are obliged to allow the Czechoslovak Radio on its prior request to carry out free transmissions and purchase audio recordings for its programme purposes.
§ 5
The Czechoslovak Radio is a separate central organisation with national competence, which can acquire rights on its behalf and commit itself.
§ 6
The activities of the Czechoslovak Radio in Slovakia are managed by the Central Director through the Regional Director for Slovakia.
§ 8
Radio studios set up in regions are based on regional needs when planning their activities and creating regional broadcasting programmes.
§ 9
The principles of internal organisation, management and more detailed definition of the tasks of the Czechoslovak Radio include a status issued by the Government on a proposal from the Central Director of the Czechoslovak Radio.
§ 10
The characters, symbols, names and sounds of the Czechoslovak Radio must not be used by another organisation or person without its consent.
§ 11
The rights of the Czechoslovak Radio are without prejudice to the rights deriving from the copyright law and regulations issued under it.
§ 12
Government Decree No. 63 / 1959 Coll., on Changes in the Organisation of Radio and Television, is repealed and the provision of § 3 of Act No. 137 / 1948 Coll., on the nationalisation of Czechoslovak Radio is repealed.
§ 13
This Act shall take effect on the day of its publication.
