Bureau of the National Assembly
of 12 August 1964
on teaching faculties
The Bureau of the National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic has decided pursuant to Article 60 (2) of the Constitution on the following legal measure:
Organisation of Faculty of Education
§ 1
Teachers for primary education schools are taught at the faculty.
§ 2
(1) From the Pedagogical Institute in Prague and from the Pedagogical Institute in Brandýse n. L., the Faculty of Education of Charles University in Prague, based in Prague, is established.
(2) From the Pedagogical Institute in Brno, the Faculty of Education of J. E. Purkyně University is established in Brno.
(3) The Faculty of Education of the University of Palacký in Olomouc, based in Olomouc, is established from the Pedagogical Institute in Olomouc.
(4) From the Pedagogical Institute in Trnava, the Faculty of Education of the University of Komenský in Bratislava, based in Trnava, is established.
(5) From the Pedagogical Institute in Prešov, the Faculty of Education of University P. J. Šafárik in Košice, based in Prešov, is established.
§ 3
(1) From the pedagogical institutes in České Budějovice, in Pilsen, in Ústí n. L., in Hradec Králové, in Ostrava, in Nitra and in Banská Bystrica, separate faculty are established as universities.
(2) The Faculty of Education is headed by the Dean, who is responsible for the activities of the Faculty of Education and Culture.
(3) As a rule, the Dean has three Dean's. The Dean and the Dean are appointed and dismissed by the Minister of Education and Culture.
(4) The Dean is the personal office of the staff of the independent faculty. The President appointed by the Minister for Education and Culture. The secretary of the separate faculty is the permanent representative of the Dean for economic and administrative matters.
§ 4
(1) In Slovakia, the Dean and Dean are appointed by the National Council for Education and Culture, the Dean and the Secretary of the Individual Faculty.
(2) Dekans of separate faculty of education in Slovakia are also responsible for their activities by the representatives of the Slovak National Council for Education and Culture.
Provisions common and final
§ 5
Paragraph 3 of Act No. 58 / 1950 Coll., on Higher Education, remains unaffected.
§ 6
(1) The pedagogical institutes in Karlovy Vary, Liberec, Pardubice, in Jihlava, Gottwald, Martina and Košice are gradually abolished, beginning with the school year 1964 / 65.
(2) Together with the abolition of the educational institutes referred to in paragraph 1, Government Regulation No 87 / 1962 Coll., on Education Institutions will cease to apply.
§ 7
This legal measure shall take effect on 1 September 1964.
