DECLARATION
of 29 December 2004
on the organisation of the school year
The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports provides, pursuant to § 24 (5) of Act No. 561 / 2004 Coll., on pre-school, primary, secondary, higher vocational and other education (Education Act):
Subject matter
The Decree regulates the details of the organisation of the school year, the types, duration and dates of each school holiday in primary and secondary schools and the dates for the certification of those schools.
Organisation of the school year
(1) The school teaching period in the school year starts on 1 September and ends on 30 June of the following calendar year; they are divided into first semester and second semester.
(2) The first half-year shall begin on 1 September and end on 31 January of the following calendar year. The second semester shall begin on 1 February and end on 30 June.
(3) If the beginning of the first semester is Friday, the lesson begins on the following Monday. If the end of the second semester is Monday, the lesson ends on the previous Friday.
(4) Where, in accordance with the framework training programme of a given field of education, professional or artistic practice or sport training takes place during the period of major holidays, the teaching shall end in the second half of the period before the date laid down in paragraphs 2 and 3; teaching shall be reduced by the number of teaching days corresponding to the duration of professional or artistic practice or training.
(5) In the absence of unforeseen situations, the Director of the School announces the vacancy (1) after consultation with pupils and the founder.
Dates of certification
(1) In the last teaching day of the school period, pupils shall receive a certificate; at the end of the first semester, the school may issue a certificate extract instead of a certificate. In the final year of secondary education, pupils shall receive a certificate on the last day of the last week before the start of the joint part of the final examination or before the beginning of the oral examination; The report shall be sent by analogy to pupils in the Conservatory before the joint part of the graduation examination and before the oral examinations of discharge are carried out. Teachers of the third year of secondary education with a certificate and secondary education with a final examination (2) shall receive a certificate on the last day of the last week before the beginning of the final examination.
(2) In the case referred to in Paragraph 2 (4), the certificate shall be transmitted to the pupils without delay upon proof of completion of professional or artistic practice or training within the prescribed scope.
School holidays
(1) The period of school holidays consists of autumn holidays, Christmas holidays, midterm holidays, spring break, Easter holidays and main holidays.
(2) Autumn holidays last 2 days and are added to the public holiday on October 28; the starting point for each school year shall be determined by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports.
(3) Christmas holidays last from 23 December to 2 January of the following calendar year inclusive. If December 23 is on Tuesday, the holidays begin before Monday. If January 3 falls on Friday, the holiday ends on Friday.
(4) Half-yearly leave lasts one day and falls for Friday from 29 January to 4 February.
(5) Spring break lasts one week. The dates for their performance according to the school's headquarters in each district are set out in the Annex.
(6) Easter holidays are for Thursday, which precedes Great Friday.
(7) The main holidays last from the end of the second semester of school until the start of the first semester of the new school year.
Repeal
The following shall be deleted:
1. Decree No. 362 / 1991 Coll., on the organisation of the school year in primary schools, secondary schools and special schools.
2. Decree No. 99 / 2002 Coll., amending Decree No. 362 / 1991 Coll., on the organisation of the school year in primary schools, secondary schools and special schools.
3. Decree No. 113 / 2003 Coll., amending Decree No. 362 / 1991 Coll., on the organisation of the school year in primary schools, secondary schools and special schools, as amended by Decree No. 99 / 2002 Coll.
Efficacy
This decree shall take effect on the day of its publication.
