Czech National Banks
of 25 May 1993
on the issue of banknotes of CZK 500, the expiry of banknotes of CZK 500 and their replacement
Czech National Bank pursuant to § 22 (a) and (d) of the Act of the Czech National Council No. 6 / 1993 Coll., on the Czech National Bank, states:
§ 1
Banknotes of CZK 500 model 1993 (hereinafter referred to as "the banknote") are issued for circulation on 21 July 1993.
§ 2
(1) The banknote is 69 mm wide and 152 mm long. The tolerance allowed in its width and length is ± 1,5 mm. The banknote is printed on a naturally coloured paper with a local tiered watermark and a protective window strip.
(2) The tiered watermark is placed on the 41 mm wide, unprinted edge of the banknote (hereinafter referred to as "coupon") and consists of a portrait of Božena Nemcová.
(3) A 1,4 mm wide protective window strip is embedded in paper in a perpendicular direction to the long side of the banknote throughout its width, looking from the front in approximately one third of the length of the banknote. On the front side of the banknote, there is always 5 mm on the surface of the paper of a silver stripe of 5 mm long, on which there is read negative microtext "500 CZK" from the bottom up direction.
(4) The banknote shall bear a protective serial number in the form of the letter "C" in which the letter "S" is inserted. Its upper part printed in brown is visible on the front of the banknote at the top of the upper part of the print pattern, the lower part on the reverse side of the banknote at the top right part of the print pattern. The entire batch tag is visible from both sides of the banknote in the view against the light. When viewed from the reverse side of the banknote, the protective contour mark is sideways inverted.
§ 3
(1) On the face of the banknote is a portrait of the writer Božena Nemcová in the right part of the print pattern. It is printed from depth in brown in two shades. The name "FRAUD GERMANY" is placed in two rows up to the right of the portrait. It is also printed by printing from deep brown. Above the shoulder of the portrait is an ornamental surface for a hidden pattern, which, at a certain angle of light impact, creates a dark or bright number "500." From the portrait on the right, there is a denser brown belt in parallel with the longer sides of the banknote, up to 5 mm wide unprinted edge. The number "500" is negative on the belt from top to bottom. On the left of the number, the rose flower is also negative on the belt. The belt, number and flower of the rose are printed with printed area. In the top right corner of the banknote there is a tactile mark for blind and weak-sighted. The marker consists of three vertical strips with dimensions of 1 x 8 mm which are 6 mm apart. The tactile mark is printed by printing from deep brown. At the bottom edge of the banknote on the left is printed with a print from depth in the color of the brown name of the author of the draft banknote "O. KULHÁNEK INV." on the right also in the color of the brown name of the author of the engraving transcription of the draft banknote "V. FAJT SC."
(2) In the left part of the print pattern there is a text in two rows indicating the denomination of the banknote "FIVE SET KORUN ČESKÝ" in two rows the name of the Emission Bank "CZECH NATIONAL BANK." The signature of the Governor of the Czech National Bank is facsimile under the name of the Emission Bank. The designation of the representative of the Emission Bank by the word "GUVERNER 'shall be placed under the facsimile of its signature. This year's issue of the" 1993 "banknote is located at the top of the print pattern to the right of the coupon under the serial number. All the above texts are printed by printing from deep brown. In the background of the texts, the red colour shows the flower of the flowered rose. The background is printed by printing from the area with small raster in several shades of brown in combination with red in underprint.
(3) The upper part of the coupon is printed with a deep print in the brown colour with a large "500" number indicating the denomination of the banknote. The number colour has a lighter shade at the top, which in the lower part passes smoothly into the shade of dark brown. The area of digits is filled with a small grid.
§ 4
(1) A portrait of a young woman is printed on the reverse of the banknote in several shades of brown as a symbol of female figures from the work of Božena Nemcová. In the hair of a young woman are intertwined flowers that turn on the right side of the portrait into thorns and thistles, as a symbolic expression of the contrast of the romantic work of Božena Germans and her difficult life. From the portrait on the right leads parallel to the longer sides of the banknote towards the coupon 20 mm wide belt in brown colour, on which is placed the state emblem of the Czech Republic, printed in dark brown colour. The banknote underprint is made of a small raster in several shades of brown. In the lower left corner of the print pattern is printed in the color of the brown number "500," the area of its digits is filled with a small raster. In parallel to the bottom side of the banknote, the inscription "FAILURE BANKNOTES ARE TREATED BY LAW" is placed in the middle. The color of the inscription is brown. At the bottom edge of the banknote, the inscriptions "© CZECH NATIONAL BANK" (left) and "THOMAS DE LA RUE AND COMPANY LIMITED" (right) are printed in small letters in brown. All displayed images and texts are printed by printing from the surface.
(2) The denomination of the series of banknotes in one capital letter of the alphabet and the two-digit number and the six-digit serial number of the banknote shall be printed in a horizontal direction lower right under the national emblem of the Czech Republic and in a vertical direction up in half the shorter side of the banknote at the unprinted edge on the left. Both series descriptions and banknote serial numbers are printed from a height in black. The numbers of the horizontally situated serial number of the banknote are increased from left to right.
(3) The upper part of the coupon is printed by printing from the area in green brown with a large "500" number indicating the denomination of the banknote. The area of digits is filled with a small grid.
§ 5
(1) The validity of banknotes of 500 Kčs1), with colkem2, expires on 31 August 1993.
(2) The banknotes referred to in paragraph 1 shall be exchanged between 1 September 1993 and 31 May 1994 by the Czech National Bank and the banks. 3)
§ 6
This Decree shall take effect on 1 July 1993.
