on the veterinary examination of domestic slaughter of certain animals for slaughter
The Ministry of Agriculture and Nutrition, in agreement with the Ministry of Health and other participating central authorities, provides, pursuant to Section 18 of Act No. 66 / 1961 Coll., on Veterinary Care ("the Act '):
Swine, sheep and goats for slaughter
Owners of pigs, sheep and goats may carry out domestic slaughter of these animals for consumption in their own household or for consumption in their own catering, or for entertainment on exceptional occasions (hereinafter referred to as "domestic slaughter") under the conditions laid down below.
(1) Any domestic slaughter of pigs, sheep and goats, with the exception of healthy lambs and kids up to 3 months old (hereinafter referred to as "slaughter animals") is subject to a veterinary examination carried out by a competent veterinarian. *)
(2) Veterinary examination of the slaughterhouse animal intended for consumption in the owner's own household shall be carried out within 3 days prior to slaughter (live inspection); If such inspection reveals obvious disturbances in the general health of the slaughter animal, the veterinary examination shall be carried out by the national veterinarian. The national district committee or, where appropriate, a competent veterinarian may provide that in certain veterinary districts, all animals for slaughter intended for consumption in their own household shall be subject only to veterinary examination after slaughter (meat inspection).
(3) Animals for slaughter intended for consumption in self-catering, or for entertainment on exceptional occasions, must always be examined by the veterinary surgeon after slaughter.
(4) The slaughter animals necessarily slaughtered must be examined by a State veterinarian in the veterinary field no later than 24 hours after slaughter; meat and organs of the slaughter animal shall be disposed of in accordance with the decision of the State veterinarian.
(5) Animals for slaughter, sick or suspected of being infected, may only be slaughtered in the slaughterhouse or in the sanitation department.
(1) The owner of the slaughter animal must, within 7 days prior to the domestic slaughter, request the nearest centre of the veterinary establishment to examine the slaughter animal for domestic slaughter; the execution of the necessary slaughter must be notified without delay.
(2) A payment shall be paid for the veterinary examination of the slaughter animal; * *) in cases of repeated inspection (§ 2 (2)) the amount of the payment shall not be increased.
(3) The owner of the slaughter animal is obliged to submit to the local national committee, when reporting the change in the livestock situation *), proof of the animal health examination carried out and at the same time as it was carried out, but not later than 3 days after the skin has been transferred to the skin collection centre, as well as proof of the disposal of the pig skin.
Cattle and calves for slaughter
Socialistic organisations may slaughter their own cattle, including calves, for consumption in their own food establishments, but only in slaughterhouses or at slaughter centres approved by the county veterinary establishment, where a veterinary examination shall be carried out before, during and after slaughter (Section 10 (1) of the Act).
Transitional and final provisions
They shall be deleted:
1. Decree No. 48 / 1963 Coll., on domestic slaughter of pigs, compulsory sale of lard and purchase of hides from such slaughter, as amended by Decree No. 100 / 1965 Coll., on the abolition of compulsory sale of lard, except § 8 (1), first sentence, paragraphs 2 to 6 and § 9, which shall apply until 31 December 1981,
2. Decree No 131 / 1958 of the Ú. l., on the adjustment of sheep's breeders and its breeding areas,
3. Articles 23 and 24 of Decree No. 154 / 1961 Coll., implementing certain provisions of the Veterinary Care Act.
This Decree shall take effect on 1 January 1969.

*) The competent veterinarian is a veterinarian or veterinary technician of the county veterinary establishment, entrusted by ONV to take action under Section 13 (2) of Act No. 66 / 1961 Coll., on Veterinary Care (§ 1 (13) of Decree No. 154 / 1961 Coll., implementing certain provisions of the Veterinary Care Act).
* *) The remuneration is, according to the price decision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Nutrition, including the flat rate for pigs, piglets 36, - Kčs, sheep and goats 20, - Kčs.
