No. 90-D. 48.
Sir,
Having regard to the fact that the monetary reform of 1945 changed the ratio of the Czech koruna to foreign values, since on 1 July 1947 the autonomous duty rates of the Czechoslovak tariff and the Czech Government decided that the conventional duty rates in the various trade agreements concluded by the Czechoslovak Republic should also be adjusted proportionally, it is proposed that the duty rate in accordance with Article 131 of the Customs Tariff, contained in the Additional Agreement of 26 June 1928 to the Trade Agreement between the Republic of Czechoslovakia and the Kingdom of Norway of 2 October 1923, be adjusted accordingly, to:
the kippered herrings- 360.- Kčs per 100 kg have been validated at Kčs 600.- per 100 kg (Article 131 (b) of the Customs Tariff).
This supplement is subject to approval in Czechoslovakia according to the relevant laws of the Czechoslovak Republic and will be brought into effect on the date communicated by the Government of the Czechoslovak Republic to the Government of Norway.
I would be grateful if the Norwegian Government was willing to accept this proposal.
The duration of this Agreement is proposed as above by the Additional Agreement of 26 June 1928, which forms an integral part of which.
I have the honor, Your Excellency, to be
Your devoted

Oslo, March 4, 1948.
Sir,
In the note of 4 March 1948, you were very kind and informed me that, in view of the fact that the monetary reform of 1945 changed the ratio of CZK to foreign values and, as a result, on 1 July 1947, the autonomous duty rates of the Czechoslovak customs tariff, the Government decided that the contractual duty rates in the various trade contracts concluded by the Republic of Czechoslovakia should also be adjusted proportionally. It is proposed, according to your note, that the rate of duty in accordance with Article 61 (1) of the Customs Tariff, contained in the Additional Agreement of 26 June 1928 on the Trade Agreement between the Kingdom of Norway and the Republic of Czechoslovakia of 2 October 1923, on sausages (-kippered herrings-) with 360.- Kčs, be valued at Kčs 600.- per 100 kg (Article 131 b of the Customs Tariff). This proposed supplement will be subject to approval in Czechoslovakia under the relevant laws of the Czechoslovak Republic and will enter into force on the date to be communicated to the Norwegian Government. It is proposed that the duration of this supplement should be the same as that of the Additional Agreement of 26 June 1928, which is to form an integral part.
In response, I have the honour of telling You that the Norwegian Government agrees with the above proposal.
I have the honor, Your Excellency, to be
Your devoted
Halvard M. Lange.

EMIL WALTER,
