Decree of the Minister for Foreign Affairs on the negotiation of the Cultural Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Iceland

on the negotiation of the Cultural Cooperation Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Iceland
In exchange for a note between the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iceland on 17 September 1979, the Agreement on Cultural Cooperation between the Governments of both countries was negotiated in Reykjavik. The Agreement entered into force on the date of the exchange of notes.
The Czech translation of both notes is announced simultaneously.

Text of note of Minister of Foreign Affairs CSSR
Rejkjavik, 17 September 1979
Excellency,
I have the honor To inform you that the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, guided by the desire to promote friendly relations between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Republic of Iceland in accordance with the provisions of the Final Act of the Conference on Security and Cooperation in Europe, considers it appropriate to propose that both governments promote the development of cultural and scientific cooperation between the two countries.
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic considers that this objective can be achieved through:
- support for the development of cooperation and exchanges in the fields of science, education, education, education, education, education, theatre, film, mass media, literature, art and music, museums and the protection of cultural monuments, by enabling the broadcasting of delegations and individuals active in the fields of culture, scientists, awareness-raising workers, students and specialists, by enabling the tour of artistic ensembles and individual artists and by organising exhibitions, as well as by promoting the translation and publication of beautiful, scientific and technical literature of the other country;
- promoting cooperation between NGOs in order to enable action to serve the objectives of this Agreement and to better understand the cultural and social life of both countries;
- enabling exchanges between the two countries in the field of sport and tourism.
Action in the above areas of cooperation, as well as financial and organisational conditions, shall be negotiated in advance, in each case, by diplomatic means or between the relevant organisations.
If the Government of the Republic of Iceland agrees with the above, I have the honour to propose that this note and your Excellency's reply be considered an agreement between the two governments, which will enter into force on the date of your reply and remain in force until one of the governments denies it.
I take this opportunity to reassure your Excellency of my highest consideration.

Text of note of the Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iceland
Excellency,
I have the honour to confirm the receipt of your Excellency's note from this day, which reads:
