GOVERNMENT REGULATION
of 21 December 1962
establishing abortion commissions and implementing the law on abortion
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic provides, pursuant to Article 45 of Act No. 65 / 1960 Coll., on National Committees, and under Act No. 68 / 1957 Coll., on artificial abortion:
Establishment of Interrugation Committees
(1) The District National Committees, the District National Committees in Prague and the City National Committees in Bratislava, Brno, Ostrava and Pilsen (hereinafter the "Regional National Committees") establish the District Interruptions Commission as a closer commission to the Health Commission and confer on it its role in carrying out procedures for the artificial interruption of pregnancy. They may also, as appropriate, set up more such abortion commissions, generally for each hospital with a clinic.
(2) The Regional National Committees and the National Committee of the City of Prague (hereinafter referred to as the Regional National Committees) set up the Regional Interrugation Commission as a closer commission to the Health Commission and entrust it with decisions on appeals against decisions of the District Interrugation Committees.
Procedure for examining an application for abortion
A woman applying for an artificial termination of pregnancy shall contact either directly or through her attending physician the head of the women's department of any hospital with a clinic in the district where she resides, or where her place of residence or the school she visits is situated and shall inform him of the reason for her application. If there is not a hospital in the district with a clinic, they will contact the head of the women's ward of the clinic.
This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 January 1963.
