The Bureau of the Czech National Council has acted pursuant to Article 121 (3) of Constitutional Act No. 143 / 1968 Coll., on the Czechoslovak Federation, on the following legal measure:
Act ČNR No. 39 / 1969 Coll., on the acquisition and abatement of citizenship of the Czech Socialist Republic, is amended as follows:
1. The following Section 14a is inserted after Section 14:
Detection
(1) The Ministry of the Interior may withdraw the citizenship of the Republic if it resides abroad, and
(a) has acquired foreign citizenship at his own request; or
(b) without the authorisation of the competent Czechoslovak authorities, enter foreign military services; or
(c) is a member of or in the service of an organisation which, by its activities, is directed against the state establishment of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic; or
(d) illegally leave the territory of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic; or
(e) not return to their country within a specified period of time, not less than 30 days (from overseas within 90 days) from the date of delivery of the call for return by the Ministry of the Interior; or
f) by doing so it damages the important interests of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
(2) The Ministry of the Interior may also withdraw citizenship from a person who still has another nationality or who stays abroad for a continuous period of 5 years without a valid Czechoslovak document entitling himself to stay abroad.
2. Paragraph 22 of paragraph 2 shall be deleted; paragraph 3 shall be amended to paragraph 2.
This legal measure shall take effect on the date of its publication.
