on the Protocol on the Equality of Documents on Education, Scientific Aspects and Titles Issued or Granted in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
On 6 June 1972 the Protocol on the equivalence of documents on education, scientific degrees and titles issued or awarded in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics was signed in Prague.
The Protocol entered into force on the date of signature.
Czech version The Protocol shall be published simultaneously.

PROTOCOL
on the equivalence of documents on education, scientific degrees and titles issued or awarded in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics on the basis of the Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance between the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of 6 May 1970, as well as the Agreement on Cultural and Scientific Cooperation of 28 February 1972, with a view to improving and adjusting comparability of the corresponding level of education, scientific degrees and degrees in both States, have agreed on the following.
A certificate of termination of a basic nine-year-old school issued in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and a certificate of termination of eight classes of secondary school issued in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics are equivalent and justified to continue to study at a full secondary school or to be admitted to an appropriate secondary vocational school.
Graduation certificates issued in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and secondary education certificates issued in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics are equivalent and justify admission to universities in both countries.
Graduate certificates issued in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic after the completion of the secondary vocational school and diploma on the completion of the secondary vocational school awarded in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics are equivalent and justify admission to higher education in both countries.
The diplomas, issued after the completion of the universities in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, are equivalent and justify admission to the aspirations of both countries.
The scientific rank of the candidate of science and doctor of science, as well as the scientific degrees of the professor and professor, awarded in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, are equivalent accordingly.
The diplomas referred to in Article 4 and the evidence of award of scientific degrees and degrees referred to in Article 5 shall be recognised in agreement with national rules.
This Protocol shall take effect on the date of signature. Amendments and additions to this Protocol shall be agreed and adapted by the Supplementary Protocol. The competent ministries of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics will exchange information necessary for the application of this Protocol.
Dane in Prague on 6 June 1972 in two copies, each in Czech and Russian languages, both texts being equally valid.
