Decree of the Minister of Finance
of 20 May 1949
on the issue of small money paper of 5 CZK, dated 25 January 1949.
Under Section 3, paragraph 2 of the Act of 11 March 1948, No 39 Coll., on the tender of the Czechoslovak currency, I declare:
§ 1.
(1) The Czechoslovak National Bank will begin to issue small money paper of 5 Kcs with date 25 January 1949 at its headquarters in Prague, its Regional Institute for Slovakia in Bratislava and all its regional offices.
(2) The description of the five crown is contained in the Annex which forms part of this decree.
§ 2.
The current small money paper of 5 CZK, as described in Section I, No 9 of the Order of the Minister of Finance of 20 October 1945, No. 92 Coll., on the new tender of the Czechoslovak currency, remains in circulation as legal tender.
§ 3.
This decree shall take effect on the day of its publication.

Description of the five crown dated 25 January 1949.
The five krona is printed on white velvet paper of special composition, without watermark. It is 44 mm wide and 80 mm long.
The printing patterns on both face and back occupy almost the entire area of paper, except for the white edge, on all four sides approximately the same width.
The main printing on the face is made in the colour of crimson red and creates at the edges an unequal width of decorative tape and guilloche mesh of white lines. In this frame there is a large inscription on top:
"REPUBLIC OF CZECHOSPACE"
lower along the edge smaller inscription
"Counterfeiting by law."
At the lower left corner of the frame, the large round rose is made of white wool with a large figure "5" in the middle.
Inside the decorative frame is on the bright surface, partly fine red ornament and with mesh decorated, text:
"FIVE
KORUN

MINISTER FINANCE '.
Inside the decorative frame on the right is placed the serial marking in red with a large letter with a number. There's a six-digit tender number in the bottom right corner in the blue color.
The underprint of this front side is a fine net of parallel corrugated corrugated corrugated, light yellowish-green-coloured, running sideways from right to left down.
On the back of the five crown, the printing is made only in the carmine colour. It creates the main frame of the decorative line and of the white corrugated mesh, interrupted by the upper belt with the inscription:
"THE REPUBLIC OF CZECH '.
Inside this framework is the state emblem of the Czechoslovak Republic. On both sides of the mark, a wide horizontal belt, supported by laurel slides, bearing a marking on the surface filled with red waves:
left "5" and right "5"
