Communication from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the negotiation of the Convention on the Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident

Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that on 26 September 1986 the Convention on the Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident was adopted by the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna and signed on behalf of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
The Convention entered into force on 27 October 1986 on the basis of Article 12 (3) and entered into force on that date for the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
On 24 March 1993, the Czech Republic notified the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency, the depositary of the Convention, that the successor State of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic was deemed to be bound, with effect from 1 January 1993, by the Convention on the Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident of 26 September 1986.
The text of the Convention can be consulted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the State Office for Nuclear Security.
