on the establishment of the Medal of Merit on the Czechoslovak People's Army
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic orders in accordance with § 9 paragraph 4 of Act No. 62 / 1962 Coll., on the Lease of Honours:
Honorable recognition of the Medal of Merit is hereby established for the Czechoslovak People's Army of Grade I and II (hereinafter referred to as the "Medal").
(1) The medal is awarded for exceptional merit, excellent results and long-standing dedication to the development of the Czechoslovak People's Army. In particular, it shall be granted:
(a) for bravery and courage in carrying out military duties;
(b) for outstanding results in combat and political preparation,
(c) for actively developing cooperation with the armed forces of the Member States of the Warsaw Treaty;
d) for an important part in ensuring the versatile readiness of the Czechoslovak People's Army to defend the state.
(2) Medals may be awarded
(a) individuals and collectibles of the Czechoslovak People's Army, the armies of the Ministry of Interior and Border Guard, the National Security Corps, the Department of Armed Protection of Railways and the Department of Armed Airport Protection;
(b) other citizens of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic, state, economic and social bodies and organisations;
(c) members of the armed forces of the Member States of the Warsaw Treaty.
(1) The Medal is awarded by the Minister of National Defence of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic; it may be withdrawn from the person who has committed the conduct which makes him unworthy of this medal or if it becomes clear that he has been awarded undeserved.
(2) Details of the medal and its award are provided by the Minister for National Defence of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic.
Matters related to the award of the medal belong to the Federal Ministry of Defence.
This Regulation shall enter into force on 1 July 1988.
