on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on cooperation in applied science and technology
On 26 March 1968, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on cooperation in applied science and technology was signed in Prague.
Pursuant to Article VI thereof, the Agreement entered into force on 26 March 1968.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland on cooperation in applied science and technology
the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland,
led by the desire to further develop friendly relations between themselves and to develop cooperation in applied science and technology between their countries
agree as follows:
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will support and develop cooperation in applied science and technology between their countries on the basis of mutual agreements and will make every effort to achieve these objectives within the framework of this Agreement.
The Contracting Parties shall seek the development of:
(a) visits to experts and technicians for the purpose of study, training, consultation and exchange of views in scientific and technical fields;
(b) opportunities for study and research and opportunities to gain experience in industrial research institutes and industrial enterprises;
(c) exchanges of production knowledge and technology between production undertakings of both countries, including licensing measures;
(d) measures for the exchange of scientific and technical information;
(e) other forms of scientific and technical cooperation which may be mutually agreed.
This cooperation shall initially be carried out in the fields listed in the Annex to this Agreement in a manner which shall in any event be determined by the Contracting Parties or by the institutions or organisations responsible for implementing this Agreement.
The Contracting Parties shall provide all-round support for the establishment of direct contacts between the relevant organisations and enterprises in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the United Kingdom, and shall, if necessary, support the conclusion of specific agreements or contracts, whether or not they fall under the provisions of the Annex to this Agreement, but always in accordance with Article I.
Representatives of the competent authorities of the Contracting Parties shall meet periodically, as a rule once a year, alternately in London and Prague to evaluate the implementation of this Agreement, agree on further exchanges within the framework of the Agreement and to consider any proposals for amendments to the Annex to this Agreement or, where appropriate, to negotiate such amendments.
This Agreement shall enter into force on the date of signature.
2. This Agreement shall apply for a period of five years from the date of signature.
3. Thereafter, the Agreement shall be extended for a further period of five years, unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing not later than six months before the expiry of the current five-year period.
The undersigned, duly authorised by their governments, have signed this Agreement.
Dane in Prague on 26 March 1968 in two copies, each in Czech and English, the two texts being equally authentic.

PROTOCOL
The Parties take note that exchanges of scientists, technicians and others, pursuant to Article II (a) and Article II (b) of this Agreement on cooperation in the field of applied science and technology signed today, will be carried out in accordance with the following basic conditions:
(I) Unless otherwise agreed by the relevant organisations, the costs shall be borne by the sending party.
(II) The sending Party shall provide sufficient information on the participants, including all details of the work programme to be implemented, the places and institutions to be visited and, as far as possible, the names of the experts it wishes to consult. This information shall be provided as soon as possible, usually at least three months before the expected date of arrival.
(III) The receiving organisations of each Party shall, as far as possible, inform the relevant organisations of the sending parties within two months of receiving the above information whether the proposed visitor can be accepted.
(IV) The sending party shall confirm to the receiving party the date of arrival of each visitor at least three weeks in advance. Both Parties acknowledge that if this deadline is not respected, the receiving Party may be prevented from completing the entire planned programme.
(V) The receiving Party shall endeavour, as far as possible, to provide assistance and support to participants during their stay in its country.
