on the Protocol extending the Treaty of Friendship, Mutual Assistance and Post-War Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of 12 December 1943
On 27 November 1963, the Protocol on the extension of the Treaty of Friendship, Mutual Assistance and Post-War Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of 12 December 1943 was signed in Moscow.
The Protocol was approved by the National Assembly on 4 December 1963 and ratified by the President of the Republic on 7 December 1963.
The instruments of ratification were exchanged in Prague on 10 December 1963.
Article 2 The Protocol extending the Treaty of Friendship, Mutual Assistance and Post-War Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of 12 December 1943 entered into force on 10 December 1963.
Czech version The Protocol shall be published simultaneously.

PROTOCOL
extending the Treaty of Friendship, Mutual Assistance and Post-War Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of 12 December 1943
the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics,
confirming its consistent policy of peace and mutual lasting and close friendly cooperation,
Bearing in mind that the Treaty of Friendship, Mutual Assistance and Post-war Cooperation of 12 December 1943 envisages joint efforts to preserve peace in Europe,
stressing the importance of these commitments and mutual cooperation in the current international situation, where the risk of peace violations referred to in the Treaty is not eliminated and when the forces that unleashed World War II are also currently a threat to European and world peace,
Recalling with satisfaction that one of the two sovereign states created in the former German Empire, the Socialist German Democratic Republic, is going the way of peace and is an important factor in ensuring security in Europe and avoiding the threat of war,
in accordance with commitments entered into by all Member States of the Warsaw Treaty,
managing the principles of the United Nations Charter
and consistently applying the Lenin policy of peaceful coexistence between states with different social establishment
they have agreed as follows:
The Treaty on Friendship, Mutual Assistance and Post-War Cooperation between the Czechoslovak Republic and the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics of 12 December 1943 is hereby extended by 20 years from the date of expiry of the 20-year period for which this Treaty was concluded, namely 12 December 1963.
If none of the High Contracting Parties has made a declaration one year before the expiry of that period that it wishes to terminate the Treaty, it shall remain in force for another five years and so on, until one of the Parties has made a declaration of denunciation of the Treaty one year before the end of the current five-year period.
This Protocol shall be subject to ratification and shall enter into force on the date of exchange of instruments of ratification to be carried out in Prague as soon as possible.
The Protocol shall be drawn up in duplicate, each in the Czech and Russian languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
