The Order may be awarded:
(a) Czechoslovak nationals who voluntarily joined the Czechoslovak foreign army in 1939 and 1940 and thus contributed to the construction of the Czechoslovak army abroad;
(b) Czechoslovak state citizens who, in the years 1939 to 1945, fought abroad or in the country against intruders, thereby contributing to the liberation of the Czechoslovak Republic, especially those who were imprisoned or tortured for such activities.
It can also be awarded to foreign citizens who have earned the freedom of the Czechoslovak Republic by fighting.
The order has three degrees:
I. Golden Star of Czechoslovak Military Order "For Freedom."
II. Silver Medal of Czechoslovak Military Order "For Freedom."
III. Bronze Medal of Czechoslovak Military Order "For Freedom."
Description of individual degrees of order and ribbon:
(a) Grade I is a badge with a gold-plated star with five needles in a circle of 55 mm diameter. The centre of the star fills the circular target, touching the outside of the refractory beam of the star. In the middle of the round is the reduced theme of the medal (see below), which is encircled by the inscription "FOR FREEDOM OF CZECHOSLOVENSKA." The star is supported by a silver-plated leaf wreath with a diameter of 40 mm;
b) Grade II is a silver medal with a diameter of 35 mm, which has the relief of two Czechoslovak private heads on its face in a helmet marked "ZA FREEDOM ČESKOSLOVENSKA." The middle of the medal is filled with two crossswords. On top of the ribbon is the inscription "Truth wins," under this inscription three-leaf lip branch. Below crossed swords the year "1939 - 1945." The medal is hung on the ribbon with a shackle;

(d) the ribbon is 37 mm wide, 60 mm long, of moirée silk and is divided as follows: in the middle of a blue 23 mm wide stripe, bounded by two white strips of a width of 1 mm, and on both edges of the ribbon a red stripe of 6 mm wide.
(a) The first degree follows the order of M. R. Štefánik. If not borne in nature, it shall be expressed by a ribbon decorated with a gilded miniature star of this degree of order;
(b) The II. and III. degrees of order are worn behind the Czechoslovak cross of war from 1939 and are expressed, if not in nature, by a ribbon, in which the II. degree is marked by a silver-plated five-pointed star.
The Order is awarded for life and free of charge. At the same time, the decorated one receives a diploma that entitles him to carry the order. The Order is not awarded in memoriam.
If he died a decorated man, the order shall be left to the heirs. They must not carry it.
The Order loses who has been sentenced by the Court for such a crime, which has in turn lost domestic and foreign orders, military and civil honours and honorary badges. In such a case, the sentenced person is obliged to return the order along with his diploma to the Ministry of Defence.
This award is given by the President of the Republic, after the case of the Minister of National Defence or the Commander of the Army, if the President so authorises.
