concerning the Agreement between the Republic of Czechoslovakia and the People's Republic of China on Cultural Cooperation, signed in Beijing on 6 May 1952.
The Agreement between the Czechoslovak Republic and the People's Republic of China on Cultural Cooperation, signed in Beijing on 6 May 1952, was ratified on 31 July 1952 by the President of the Republic.
The instruments of ratification were exchanged in Prague on 18 September 1952.
Pursuant to Article 5 of this Agreement, this Agreement shall enter into force on the date of the replacement of the instruments of ratification and shall therefore enter into force on 18 September 1952.

AGREEMENT
between the Czechoslovak Republic and the People's Republic of China on cultural cooperation
On behalf of the Czechoslovak Republic!
The following Agreement has been negotiated on behalf of the Czechoslovak Republic and the People's Republic of China:
The Government of the Czechoslovak Republic and the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China,
led by efforts to develop friendship between the peoples of both countries, to deepen their mutual knowledge and to strengthen their cooperation in defending world peace and in their joint fight against imperialist ideology; and
led by the desire to establish close contacts in the field of cultural cooperation,
have decided to conclude this Agreement and have appointed for that purpose their representatives:

Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China
Minister of Cultural Affairs of the Central Government of the People's Republic of China
Shen Jen-pin.
Following the exchange of credentials found in proper form and in full order, the following members agreed:
The two Parties will assist and contribute to the development of cooperation between scientific and cultural information institutes and the organisations of both countries.
Both Parties agree that:
(a) each Party shall promote the translation and publication of significant political, scientific and literary works and works in the field of art of the other Party, and shall also promote mutual visits to scientific, literary and artistic staff of both countries;
(b) the Parties shall exchange professors and other cultural staff and, on a reciprocal basis, grant scholarships to students and aspirants of both countries;
c) the parties will support the study of the Czech and Slovak languages in China and the Chinese language in Czechoslovakia;
(d) each Party shall grant advantages to the press agencies and correspondents of the other Party;
(e) each Party shall organise lectures on the culture and science of the other Party;
(f) the parties shall organise or assist in the performance of theatrical, musical and film art, and shall also organise exhibitions which would be mutually familiar with the results of cultural work and artistic creation of the two countries, or assist in their organisation, and shall facilitate the conclusion of contracts for the exchange of films between film businesses of both countries;
(g) the parties will exchange important books, newspapers, magazines, photographs, gramophone boards, artistic reproduction and other cultural life material with cultural aspects;
(h) the parties will exchange lectures and scientific research material;
(i) the Parties shall exchange material relating to education and the organisation of mass cultural work in factories and factories, cities and villages;
(j) the Parties shall assist the cooperation of the radio stations of both countries in the field of culture, as well as the exchange of audio recordings and other programming material of special broadcasts.
For the implementation of this Agreement, the Parties shall designate representatives by diplomatic means who shall jointly draw up annual specific cultural cooperation plans. The plan for the first year shall be agreed by the Parties no later than three months after the entry into force of this Agreement. This plan will be implemented by the competent institutions designated by the governments of the two countries after approval. These plans may be supplemented or amended in agreement with both Parties.
This Agreement shall remain in force for a period of five years, unless one of the Contracting Parties notifies it six months before the expiry of that period of its wish to repeal it, the Agreement shall automatically remain in force for another five years.
This Agreement shall be subject to ratification and shall enter into force on the date of the exchange of instruments of ratification.
The instruments of ratification will be exchanged in Prague.
In evidence of this, both Parties signed this Agreement and attached their seals to it.
Written in Beijing on 6 May 1952 in two specimens, each in Czech, Chinese and Russian languages, these three texts being equally valid. In the event of discrepancies in interpretation, the Russian text is considered authentic.
