Federal Ministry of the Interior
of 21 August 1978
amending and supplementing Decree No 145 / 1956 Ú. l (Ú. v.) on road traffic
In agreement with the Federal Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Interior of the Czech Socialist Republic, the Ministry of Interior of the Slovak Socialist Republic and other participating central bodies, pursuant to § 16 paragraph 1 (a) of Decree No. 54 / 1953 Coll., on road traffic, as amended by the legal measure of the Bureau of the National Assembly No. 13 / 1956 Coll.:
Decree No 145 / 1956 Ú. l (Ú. v.) on road traffic, as amended, is amended as follows:
1. Paragraph 90 repeals paragraph 1.
2. Paragraph 90 (2) reads as follows:
"(2) The registration number shall consist of a series of two or three letters and a four-digit number. '

"(a) in the case of passenger cars, delivery cars with a useful weight of up to 900 kg, motorcycles, motor tricycles and invalid carriages and in the case of trailers of such vehicles, in black letters and figures on a white background;
(b) for lorries, buses, special vehicles, tractors, motor mobile machinery and their trailers, in black letters and figures on the yellow background;
(c) in the case of vehicles the holders of which are foreigners, yellow letters and figures on the blue background. ';
4. Article 91 (4) reads as follows:
"(4) The shape and dimensions of the registration plate table as well as the shape and dimensions of letters and figures and their arrangement shall be determined by the Ministry of the Interior, which may, where appropriate, order the bulk exchange of the registration plates."
5. The last sentence of Paragraph 92 (1) reads as follows:
"In the front, the table is located in the middle of the vehicle; in the case of passenger cars, trailers for passenger cars, buses and their trailers in the middle, lorries, tractors, trailers and semi-trailers on the left side of the vehicle. ';
6. In the last sentence of Paragraph 92 (3):
"Motorcycle trailers shall be affixed by the holder of the vehicle in the rear of the State registration mark in accordance with the State registration number of the towing vehicle. ';
7. Paragraph 92 repeals paragraphs 4 and 5 and paragraphs 6 and 7 are renumbered paragraphs 4 and 5.

"(5) In justified cases, the authority authorising the technical capacity of the vehicle or the relevant transport inspector may authorise a different location of the registration plate. The authorisation shall be recorded on the technical card and on the technical certificate. ';

"(1) Motor vehicles of members of foreign representative offices in the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic who enjoy diplomatic immunity and privileges, or vehicles of persons assimilated to them, shall be marked with an oval mark with the letters CD or CC at the national registration plate both front and rear. Paragraph 91 (1) (c) shall apply to the implementation of this mark. '

"(3) Motor vehicles and their trailers to be used for driving abroad must bear an international mark for the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic. This mark shall consist of letters CS in black at least 80 mm high and a width of lines of at least 10 mm wide; the letters shall be made on a white ellipse-shaped base with a horizontal axis of at least 175 mm long and a vertical axis of at least 115 mm long. The mark shall be placed on the rear of the vehicle in a clearly visible position, preferably perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the vehicle. ';
11. in Paragraph 93, paragraph 4 is deleted.
This Decree shall take effect on 1 October 1978.
