DECLARATION
Ministry of Education of the Czech Socialist Republic
of 29 July 1969
on the organisation and studies of gymnastics
The Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, in agreement with the participating central authorities, provides in accordance with § 2 (2) of Act No. 168 / 1968 Coll., on gymnastics:
Gymnasium establishment services
The Regional National Committees shall establish gymnasium as budgetary organisations within the framework of a defined plan and budget.
Transformation of secondary education schools to gymnasium
The current secondary education schools will gradually cease to exist in the first years of 1969 / 1970; This appropriation is intended to cover expenditure on studies, meetings of experts, information and publications directly linked to the achievement of the objectives of the programme.
Content of study
(1) Gymnasium studies provide full secondary general education, including language, social sciences, including the foundations of philosophy, mathematics and science, as well as aesthetic and physical education.
(2) Gymnasium studies have been divided into the humanities and natural sciences since the first years. On both branches, the Regional National Committees may, with the agreement of the Ministry of Education of the Czech Republic, set up classes with a special focus according to the requirements for the preparation of gymnastics graduates both for university studies and for their practical application.
Study at work
(1) From the school year 1969 / 1970, regional national committees in gymnasiums in the framework of the approved plan and budget also set up employment studies, such as evening (exchange), long-distance and external studies. From 1969 / 1970 onwards, separate secondary education schools for workers have been transformed into independent gymnasium for workers.
(2) Grammar school studies take 4 years; do not share the study branches.
(3) Candidates are admitted to the Gymnasium study under the same conditions as those of the Gymnasium study at other secondary schools.
(4) Graduates in gymnastics are granted work relief to the same extent as students in other secondary schools. *)
Transitional provisions
(1) When a gymnasium is set up in a building of a secondary general education school, the director of that school is usually also appointed director of the gymnasium. In this case, the administrative and economic agenda of the two schools is jointly provided, but the building is marked with tables with the names of the two schools. All educational documentation of both schools shall be kept separately. Both schools also have separate official stamps.
(2) If a pupil does not benefit from a secondary school in general to gymnasium in a year of secondary school in general, he may repeat the same year in gymnasium in the following year.
(3) The transfer of a pupil from a secondary school in general to a gymnasium, or vice versa, may be authorised, in justified cases, generally at the end of the school year if the student successfully performs a differential examination, the content and scope of which shall be determined by the school director to which he intends to transfer.
Final provision
This Decree shall take effect on 1 September 1969.
