Constitutional Act on State Symbols of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic

CONSTRUCTION LAW
of 20 April 1990
on State Symbols of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic
The Federal Assembly of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic decided on this constitutional law:
Čl. I
State symbols are state emblem, state flag, standard of the President of the Republic, state seal and state anthem.
Čl. II
(1) The State emblem of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic consists of a quarter shield, in which in the first and fourth red fields there is a silver two-tail roaring lion in the right-looking jump, with gold claws, a golden stripped tongue and a golden heraldic crown. In the second and third red fields is a silver double cross erected on the middle raised top of the blue tripod. The quarter sign is marked with a silver line.
(2) The representation of the national character is in Annex 1.
Čl. III
(1) The national flag of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic consists of the upper field of the white and the lower field of the red field, between which is inserted the blue stripe wedge into half the length of the flag; the aspect ratio is 2: 3.
(2) The image of the national flag is given in Annex 2.
Čl. IV
(1) The flag and standard of the President of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic is white with an edge consisting of flames of alternately white, red and blue. The sign of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic is embedded in the middle of the white field. Below it is a silver inscription "VERITAS VINCIT" on the red ribbon. Above both ends of the ribbon there are gold lipa flips of two leaves. The President's standard is a square format.
(2) The representation of the standard is given in Annex 3.
Čl. V
(1) The State Seal of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republic consists of a national emblem with lipos branches on the sides, around which is a circular copy of the name of the state in the Czech and Slovak languages.
(2) The seal of the State Seal is kept by the President of the Republic.
(3) The representation of the imprint of the State Seal is given in Annex 4.
Čl. VI
The national anthem of the Czech and Slovak Federal Republics1) and the first verse of the national anthem of the Slovak Republic; 2) in playing and singing the national anthem, this order is preserved.
Čl. VII
The use of state symbols is governed by the Federal Assembly law.
Čl. VIII
The following shall be deleted:
1. Article 110 of Constitutional Act No. 100 / 1960 Coll., Constitution of the Czechoslovak Federal Republic;
2. Act No. 163 / 1960 Coll., on the State Sign and on the State Flag.
Čl. IX
This constitutional law shall take effect on the day of its publication.
