Legal measures of the Bureau of the National Assembly
of 24 February 1955
regulating the award of the rank of doctor of science to certain scientists.
The Bureau of the National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic has decided on the following legal measure under Article 66 of the Constitution:
(1) Scientists who are known for their excellent scientific work, discoveries or inventions may, at the latest within a year from the date of the publication of this legal measure on a proposal from the Board of Higher Education, the Presidium of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, the Bureau of the Slovak Academy of Sciences or the Bureau of the Czechoslovak Academy of Agricultural Sciences, grant an extremely exceptional scientific rank of the Doctor of Sciences, without meeting the conditions of Section 4 of Decree-Law No 60 / 1953 Coll., on scientific degrees and on the designation of graduates of universities.
(2) The State Commission on Scientific Aspects will request prior to its decision an expert opinion from the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences or the Ministry of Education, following the case of the Ministry of National Defence.
The provisions of Sections 8, 13, 14 and 16 of Act No. 60 / 1953 Coll., apply to the scientific fields in which the scientific rank of Doctor of Sciences is awarded under this legal measure, its withdrawal, the supreme supervision of its award, and the wording of which it is given.
Details of this legal measure are provided by the Minister of Education in agreement with the President of the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences and with the participating members of the Government.
This legal measure shall take effect on the day of its publication; they shall be carried out by the Minister for Education in agreement with participating members of the Government.
