on the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde on cultural cooperation
On 28 April 1984, the Agreement between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde on Cultural Cooperation was signed in Praia. The Agreement entered into force on 20 May 1985 pursuant to Article 11 thereof.
The Czech version of the Agreement is hereby published at the same time.

AGREEMENT
between the Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde on cultural cooperation
The Government of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic and the Government of the Republic of Cape Verde,
led by the desire to develop contacts and cooperation in the fields of culture, science, education and health,
convinced that this cooperation will contribute to deepening friendly relations between the two States,
have decided to conclude this Agreement and to this end have agreed as follows:
The Parties shall promote cooperation in the fields of culture, art, science, education, mass media, film, health and sport.
The Parties shall promote cooperation and exchange of information and experience between the cultural, educational, health and artistic organisations of their countries, in particular:
(a) by allowing mutual visits to university professors and teachers of professional and scientific establishments;
(b) organising exhibitions in the territory of the Contracting Parties;
c) organizing concerts, theatre performances and other performances of artists,
(d) the translation and publication of literary and scientific works;
(e) exchange of books and other publications in the fields of culture, art, science, education and health;
(f) exchanging information on life in the countries of the Contracting Parties in order to disseminate objective information in textbooks and curricula;
(g) promoting exchanges of cultural, educational, scientific and health experts;
(h) the exchange and presentation of films on a commercial and non-commercial basis.
The Parties shall, in accordance with their capabilities, provide scholarships to students and postgraduate students to study at their universities and other educational establishments.
The Contracting Parties shall examine the possibilities for ensuring partial or full validity also in the territory of the other Contracting Party of completed studies, examinations and diplomas obtained in the territory of one of the Contracting Parties. If deemed necessary, they shall conclude a special agreement.
The Parties will allow access to archives, libraries, museums and galleries in accordance with the applicable rules of their States.
The Parties shall facilitate the participation of representatives of the other Party in congresses, conferences, festivals and other international events organised in the territory of one of the Parties.
The Parties shall promote cooperation between the radio and television organisations of their States and the establishment of cooperation between the press agencies.
The Parties shall promote cooperation in the fields of sport and among youth organisations of their States.
The Contracting Parties shall, in the framework of the provisions in force, make available to nationals of the other State who will be seconded under this Agreement the necessary conditions for them to fulfil their tasks.
For the purpose of implementing this Agreement, the Parties shall negotiate cooperation programmes covering agreed actions and their financial terms and conditions for certain periods.
This Agreement shall be subject to approval in accordance with the national provisions of the States of the Contracting Parties and shall enter into force on the date on which the Contracting Parties notify each other in writing of such approval.
This Agreement shall be negotiated for a period of five years and shall then be tacitly extended for another five years, unless one of the Contracting Parties denies it in writing at least six months before the expiry of the current period of validity.
Done at Praia, 28 April 1984, in duplicate in the Czech and Portuguese languages, the two texts being equally authentic.
